Our interview was for 645 am. We arrived to the consulate at 520am and parked our car 2 blocks away. We didn´t stay at the hotel bc my fiance lives a few minutes away. We started walking and the buscones were after us, lol. They were inside a yellow school bus and started telling everyone that the consulate was closing early that day at 12pm and that they would organize our papers for us and staple everything for free. Of course I was already warned, but my fiance started to gand over his papers to the SECRETARIA, lol. The girl kept telling me to get on the bus and I kept saying no that I wasnt going to sit down and we didn´t need to do this. Then I gave my fiance the face like lets go. So he finally listened and told the SECRETARIA to give him his papers back because he didnt want to do anything that I didnt want to. So the girl whispered, ´´Oh she´s american, she´s scared.´´ lol! Que Show! Anyways we walked and got in line and we hugged the whole time in line. We took with us... read complete review

We arrived around 5:45 AM to the embassy. Appointment was at 6:45. Sure enough, just like the other reviews mentioned, dont pay any attention to the buscones. One lady was trying to get people to line up on the other side of the street LOL. A little after 6, the official consulate workers came out to start assisting, they were the yellow shirts with info on them. The ONLY thing we had to start out showing was the blue appointment letter. DONT LISTED TO ANYONE THAT TELLS YOU THAT YOU HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING OUTSIDE!!! YOU ONLY PAY INSIDE AT A CERTAIN WINDOW. One of the yellow shirt guys took our blue letter and gave us our number. Me and my fiancee entered fairly quickly, which was close to 7 AM by then and took a seat.
The middle section of seats is where we sat to watch for the number. Looking at the pictures of all of the buscones was kind of entertaining hah. First time they called our number was to go up and turn in the required consulate documents. This included the Me... read complete review

Fausto woke me up with a kiss at 4am. At first I ignored him lol. But he of course persisted. we showered and were out the door by 4:50am. We arrived around 5:15. As soon as we got out of the car this stupid buscona tried to direct my husband far away from the consulate by telling him that the residency visa appointments were around the corner I of course nudged the fat middle aged buscona out of the way and said-"vamanos moi no lo oyes a ella esta pulgosa es fukking buscon." Lol the look on her face was priceless. We went to the correct location of where to line up. There were even more buscones across the street from the consulate "directing" people on where to go. Lol this one chick actually went 2 blocks away from the consulate because of a buscona. I was surprised at how these people actually believed them. So at around 6:30 they starteds letting people in. I had no purse and fausto had all of the necessary documents and evidence so we went through security with no problem. We sat... read complete review

One note before talking about the interview.
The website and instructions both say:
As soon as you have obtained the documents that are applicable in your case, take this sheet to any Banco Popular branch in the Dominican Republic to pay the non-fundable visa application fee of the equivalent of US$140.00 in Dominican pesos and an additional non-refundable fee of US$15.00 (the equivalent in Dominican pesos) plus applicable taxes per applicant. This fee is for the official verification of your records. All applicants must pay the equivalent of US$140.00 fee, but only applicants who will be age 18 or older on the day of their interview need to pay the equivalent US$15.00 fee. Make sure to take the Banco Popular receipt to the Consular Section on the day of your interview.
Note that it says both the $140 fee and the $15 need to be paid at a Banco Popular. We had to go to 3 different banks for them to allow us to pay the $15 one. All the oth... read complete review
