Went to Montreal for K-1/K-2. We were treated very nice there. My son and I received our visa's the same day. We were in and out of the interview in 10 minutes. No questions were asked about my relationship. WE were fingerprinted and told about the visa and that was it. It was painless. I worried for two months for nothing.

Montreal was great. Everyone was friendly. I went to the embassy at 8 am even though my interview was for 9:30 as it was advised by fellow visa applicants before me. Went through security and was directed to a room to wait until we could all go up to the 19th floor. I was fisrt in line at #14 and got my number. Sat waiting for it to be called. Went to the counter and handed them the stack of original documents and a stack of the copies. The girl at the counter was friendly and said everything was in order except that my police certificate had only my name from my 1st marriage and it didnt include my maiden name. She said I would probably have to get another one done in montreal and she said it could be done the same day. She also said it would be up to the officer doing the interview to decide whether I needed it. I told her that I had been married at 18 and she wrote that down on the checklist. She told me to go and pay the $200. US cash (100 for me and 100 for my daughter) I took her... read complete review

Pleasant and easy process. Shouldn't have worried about it half as much as I did!

So yesterday morning, Mom and I bussed in to Montreal and walked over to the consulate. I had a letter saying that my interview was at 9:30 and we got there at 9, but there was already a queue. Just as we got there, a b***h of a security guard was letting a few people in so mom was convinced that they all had appointments and shoved me in ahead of everyone else. I wasn't impressed, I doubt they people outside were impressed ... but hey. I was in. We were in a foyer behing a very thick set of smoked glass double doors and they were letting people in, one at a time. When I got to the top, the b***h told me I had to ditch the bag (I had all of my documents in my backpack) before I could come in. Luckily, mom was at the coffee shop in front of the building (Consulate was on the side) so I just ran over and gave her the non-essential stuff and ran back. They were not letting anyone in with a bag of any kind, except for small purses. They were telling people to go put them in a locker at the... read complete review

Our experience at the Vancouver Consulate was a pleasant and fairly stress-free one. No need to show up early to get in line, you are let into the building in time for the interview which was a relief. Security was extensive and very strict which was nerve wracking to go through. Once in the K-visa area it was a much different atmosphere. Very friendly and helpful people there. Our documents and information was verified. We were asked a few simple questions and told good luck Our appointment was at 10am and everything took about an hour and a half to complete. Lots of sitting and waiting in between. I posted our experience in the forum section if anyone wants details. Feel free to send me a message if there is a specific question I could help with about this particular consulate.
