I had a great interview. It was May 15, 2007. All the staff were very friendly.
First of all I stayed at the Days Inn, which is only 1 1/2 block walk from the Embassy. It was a clean room, small...but clean. Everything I needed.
I arrived at the Consulate at 9:20 and waiting outside in the time slot indicated. I was really the only one there outside. Glad it wasn't raining. A guard came out and asked what I was there for and I explained K1 interview. So he said in 10 mins stand in this line...again I'm the only one. About 2 mins later another guard came out and asked what I was there for and then he said come with him and let me into the little room to be cleared through security. Did that...went in the elevator up to the 20th floor and thats where all the people are....lol. Went through security again and directed to sit down in the waiting area. I was 1 of 3. I got there first and was done first. It was painless. The nice lady went through all my ppwk. O... read complete review

My mom and I stayed at the Days Inn that's like... 3 buildings down from the consulate. The morning of, we arrived there at about 9:40. I waited outside the door until the security guy on the inside noticed me. He asked what I wanted, I said I was there for a K-1 interview. He said ok, wait here, and left me outside in the rain for a few minutes until the person in front of me cleared security.
The girl inside checked my name off a list and made me empty my pockets and take off my jacket. She then rifled through my expandable folder of goodies (paying a LOT of attention to the letters between Rob and I) and then told me to go upstairs. Once there, the elevator is pretty much the only place you can go. There's a door to the right but a security guy asks why you're there, and then calls the elevator for you. Off the (stupid fast; it made my ears pop) elevator and to the left is more security. Same procedure except they paid a lot less attention.

The whole thing went great. Got right in to the building thanks too VJ members saying you don need to wait in like for and K visa. Directed right to the window to hand in my package of stuff. Was more prepared thanks to VJ again over the other people that were their who had legal assistance. The gentlemen was happy I had everything he needed in the order he wanted. Paid the $100 came back and had a quick interview, had no problems then came back at 2:30 and got my Visa.
It was great and smooth thanks to all the VJ experience I read before and during this whole process. Onwards now to moving, marriage and AOS.
Thanks VJ.

1095 West Pender is the address of the Consulate, but the lines are at the east side of the building under the address 1075 West Pender. I have wondered if this is why the sample Letter of Intent has 1075 as the address to which to mail it. The return address on the envelope in which I received the notice of appointment date had 1095.
Stood in the 10am line-up until the official asked what kind of visa. He then shunted my boyfriend and I to the line closest to the door.
Unlike previous descriptions of the airport-like security check, we did not have to remove our shoes nor did we walk through an air-puffing machine; just empty pockets and remove coats/hats/sweaters to the little grey bins and collect them again on the other side.
A change that some might wish to be aware of: if you bring something that you shouldn't (like I forgot about the calculator that was in my pocket), you will no longer be allowed to leave it outside the door. Yo... read complete review
