I had a great interview. It was May 15, 2007. All the staff were very friendly.
First of all I stayed at the Days Inn, which is only 1 1/2 block walk from the Embassy. It was a clean room, small...but clean. Everything I needed.
I arrived at the Consulate at 9:20 and waiting outside in the time slot indicated. I was really the only one there outside. Glad it wasn't raining. A guard came out and asked what I was there for and I explained K1 interview. So he said in 10 mins stand in this line...again I'm the only one. About 2 mins later another guard came out and asked what I was there for and then he said come with him and let me into the little room to be cleared through security. Did that...went in the elevator up to the 20th floor and thats where all the people are....lol. Went through security again and directed to sit down in the waiting area. I was 1 of 3. I got there first and was done first. It was painless. The nice lady went through all my ppwk. OK I'm and idiot and didn't have Ron's actual original divorce ppwk and that was the only problem. She took it all. Then gave me directions to go pay my $$$$ down the hall and come back. Did that. Then waited some more. Got my fingerprint electronically taken. Then waited. I was then called down to the end of the windows and was interviewed by a nice man. He asked the basic questions: What attracted you to Ron? (I wanted to say I thought he was "hot")
Do you have pics of the two of you together?
Does he have kids?
What does he do?
....really nothing out of the ordinary and I can't remember them all.
He said everything looks in order and the only problem is the original divorce ppwk. So he said I just need to send that in and they will process everything and send it back...he said I needn't make another trip to Vancouver seeing I was from Saskatchewan. I breathed a sigh of relief at that and told him I thought Vancouver was a lovely city, but I really appreciated the fact I didn't have to come back. So I went back to waiting for my instructions on how to send it all back in. The lovely lady from earlier explained how to do it. I need to expresspost it to them (they rec'd that on Friday May 25th) with our passports (mine and the girls), the original (certified copy is all we have)divorce decree and a prepaid expresspost mailer. So that is done and now I patiently await for the day they post it back to me. I suspect sometime this week. Anyways, just wanted to let you all know that it was so much easier than I could have possibly expected. It was surreal going to the place you here so many talking about.
best of luck to you all....Vicki
