- waited approx. 1.5 hr to be sent to window to review our paperwork, originals of checklist and hand over copies as well. Friendly and efficient

We got to the Embassy at 6:50ish and we were 5th in line. The doors opened at 7:30 and we were ushered into the building after showing the security guard our appointment letter. Security took people in one by one and was quick and efficient. The woman that was directing us through the process was friendly, yet you could tell she meant business. We were given a card with the letter E and window #9 on it before going through a metal detector and being wanded. After that, we were told to go downstairs and wait in the waiting room. After 5 minutes, the nice security guard came down and took us up in the elevator, instructed us which window we should go to, and then left.

I would reiterate all of the nice short cuts to take (back of elevator, directions, etc), but it doesn't matter in the long run. The order in which you arrive at the Embassy dictates the order in which you will be called for the administrative tasks and the interview.

At the first window we... read complete review

My husband (the benificiary) and I (the USC) showed up at 12:45 pm for our 1:00 pm interview. We went through the 1st security checkpoint and then were directed to walk up some stairs to go to the elevator to go to the 20th floor. Then we went through the next security checkpoint. They took the Package 4 letter. We were told to wait in a waiting room. There were 3 others there to be interviewed. We waited a total of 1.5 hours. In this time my husband submitted the papers in the order they ask for them (written on a sheet given to us at the 2nd security check point). When it was time for the interview they called us up. For our situation of married 12 years and two kids together, no previous marriages, good health and no criminal record it was pretty much a done deal. The officer asked about why we were moving down now. He asked about me working or Lyndon working. It was all very easy going and done in under 5 minutes. We said we would pick up the visa the next day and that was that. We... read complete review

Arrived at the Montreal Consulate at 7:15 on August 29, 2007 and there were already about 5 people ahead of me. Security is intimidating, nearly 3-4 officers are there to check you out. My interview was done in 10 mins flat. The gentleman was kind and courteous, and made me feel at ease. I left the consulate by 9:30 sharp. One tip : bring something to read...newspaper or book...it passes the time.

The Visa came in 4-5 days later.
