Hi Everyone,
We stayed in Hotel Plateau Royale which was 3 Km from the Consulate. I took a walk in the evening to see the consulate location and find a convenient public parking. There is a big paid parking lot very close to the consulate, so i was happy and came back to the hotel.
Woke up at 5 30 AM in the morning and me and my wife reached the consulate by 6 30. It was drizzling, so i told my wife to wait in the car in the parking while i reserved the coveted first position in front of the consulate. Others started lining up behind me after 6 40. Met another VJ couple in the line and we chatted while trying to save ourselves from getting wet.
Wy wife joined me before the doors opened at about 7 32 and we were all relieved to enter the consulate after freezing outside for an hour. We were asked for the interview letter and were told to empty out pockets and remove the jackets. A quick security check / XRay scan of the items by the security... read complete review

This is my review. I was well prepared thanks to Kayla and other members of VJ and their reviews, so thank you everyone.
Arrival:
- 7:05am at the Embassy and I was second in line, but soon became first, as the lady in front of me said she was waiting for someone and left. I was also standing on the left side, as they open the right side door to take you in.
Entry:
- 7:30am they opened the doors. I had my interview letter opened to the last page with my name and appointment date/time as well as having my passport ready for the guard.
He told me to walk to the top of the stairs and wait. There is where he xrayed all my items, and gave me an instruction sheet to read. The instruction sheet lists step by step of how your day is going to go at the embassy, right down to the papers they are going to request and when you are going to be sitting and waiting. I enjoyed having those intructions. He gave me back my interview letter with... read complete review

Okay fellow VJ’ers, let me start off by apologising for the late review but I wanted it to be detailed and specific. Anyways here it is:
We reached Montreal on Saturday, March 27th and we stayed at the hotel LaTour Centreville. It is really a good place to stay (only $75/night) and its proximity to the Consulate was the best part. It took us one minute to get to the US Consulate (I am not kidding, actually 1 minute).
On Sunday, we went to the Desjardins mall, it was really fun! We also went to the Eaton center, which is on St.Catherines Boulevard. Okay enough about the travel trails, here is the actual Consulate review:
Reached the US Consulate at about 6:35 am, we had two people ahead of us. The first was a couple (kimbear, I found out it was you with David when I read your review) and the second was Colleens with whom I actually spoke. It was very chilly, and so we got some coffee. Anyways, people started to pile up around 7 am. The security guards opened the... read complete review

Our Appointment was 3/11/2010 - Arrived 3/10 in Montreal
Stayed at the Hilton Bonaventure - rate was good, free breakfast vouchers (with Hilton Gold!), and internet included. The night of the 10th while baby and mom were resting I took a walk to the consulate to scope out the location. So close, maybe 10 minutes walk? Add some extra time if you're moving with a stroller though!
Arrived at the consulate probably around 6:45. Met wrtc and EdmontonGirl and their significant others, shivered outside as people started to gather behind us.
Doors opened around 7:30am, getting through security was pretty smooth considering the stroller (he had us fold it up and run through the scanner after removing everything from it, no problem). For those traveling with young ones - we brought some petroleum jelly, diapers, box of wipes, and didn't get any challenges. Had to lug him and the stroller and all down the flight of stairs, and then wait in a downstairs... read complete review

We left the hotel around 6:10 got to the consulate at 6:20 ish. A few ppl showed up shortly thereafter. One of the vjers we met was stef loves bran. Was a wee bit cold -10. The hotel was soo close like not even 5 mins to walk.
They opened the doors around 7:30ish, i had no watch or anyway to tell the time until we got upstairs. Someone didn't put the letters back so they had to hand scribble the letters on pieces of scrap paper..lol. I joked about how it looked like a Monday and the guards kinda laughed and joked back. They were nice and friendly. Went through security then downstairs to the elevator.
Guard came shortly after to take a-e up. Once upstairs we were told to sit on one side of the room. I figured at least 3 ppl in that elevator were vj'ers..as we were the only ones facing the right way LOL. It was 8am at this point. A few minutes later we got called to window 11, David was given a paper to go pay the 131$usd, and come back. The lady at window ... read complete review
