Sorry for the late review but here it is

Had my interview on Dec 21, 2010 @ 9:00am

I Arrived in Montreal on the afternoon of Dec 20, stayed at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth . . . it's about 2 blocks or so from the US Consulate . . . the walk is pretty easy. It was only like 5 or 6 min and if you are driving to consulate there is a parking lot right across from the consulate and they charge 15 flat for whole day parking which is not so bad because if you talk to the guy he can let you go out and come back and park it there if you want to shop because its very close to st cath street which have all the stores.Anyways back to the review. I have been reading the reviews for a while and almost everyone says to arrive EARLY around 7:00am. I was there at 6:50am but it was a very cold morning and even though i was dressed pretty warm I was freezing my butt off. At 6:50 am no one was there it almost seemed like if I was at the wrong place because... read complete review

Had my interview on Dec 17, 2010
Arrived in Montreal on the afternoon of Dec 16, stayed at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth . . . it's about 2 blocks or so from the US Consulate . . . an easy walk, maybe 5 or 6 minutes.

My appointment was for 9:00 am, but having read previous reviews I planned to be there waiting before 7:30 am. I was up and checked out of the hotel by about 6:30 (does anybody sleep the night before their interview?!). So I went down to the train station/plaza under the hotel and got a bottle of OJ to kill a bit of time and then casually walked over to the consulate. Got there at about 6:30 (I guess, no watch and I left my cell phone back at the hotel) . . . no signs of life and no one else there. Took an extended walk around the block, same thing. Walked a block back to Tim Horton's and got a donut and hot chocolate and killed some time inside . . . it wasn't super cold outside (maybe -10 C), but not warm either. At 7:00 I walked back to the c... read complete review

Over all we had a really good experience. My fiance arrive at 6:45am but it was cold and snowy so he was the only one there until about 7. I arrived around 7:15 (Despite the precaution I still got a bad cold!) Right before my arrival a family arrived and right after another couple. When the guard came to open the door THEY BUDDED AHEAD OF US! I couldn't believe it. I was more upset about it then my fiance who had waited outside in the freezing cold for almost an hour. But I just couldn't believe the lack of courtesy. Anyways, we got a letter C so it wasn't such a big deal. Everything was as everyone else describes...

Go through security, head to basement, wait to go up elevator, go up elevator, wait in seating area to be called. I would like to note that there are toys in the waiting area which I think is very thoughtful of the consulate to provide.

First I was finger printed, then had some confusion over paying for the interview. We had a lot of trouble ... read complete review

Our interview was scheduled for Monday Dec 6th, 2010 at 8:00am. We drove from Toronto to Montreal on Sunday Dec 5th and stayed at the Quality Hotel Downtown which was only a few blocks from the consulate. On Sunday evening we drove by the consulate to find out exactly where we needed to go and where to park. On our interview letter it states not to show up more than 20 minutes before your scheduled appointment, so on Monday morning we drove by the consulate again on our way to get breakfast. It was about 7:20am and there was already a couple waiting outside. We decided to get our Mcdonalds to go and eat in the car while we got our parking spot. We were able to park on the same street as the consulate. We put the maximum amount in our parking meter which made us good until about 11:00am. We walked through the consulate doors at exactly 7:40am. There was only one person in front of us going through security so we were just delayed a minute or two. As we passed through the metal... read complete review

I first and foremost want to thank everyone that posted complete minute by minute details of their stories from the time they arrived at the US Consulate in Montreal until exiting the building after the interview. I really appreciated all the information, and it sure helped in easing the nerves and preparing for my interview. I arrived at 7am on the button and was very surprised that no one else had arrived before me. (The cab driver insisted I was in the correct location)! Not even a minute later, a group of 5 people arrived, consisting of a family or three and a another couple getting married. By the time the doors opened a 730am, there was approximately 9 people in total waiting to get in. I received the proverbial "A" card and was escorted into the building where all your belongings are scanned. As advised on this blog, I only took in my binder of required documents, and a small purse, that contained nothing but some cash, a credit card and my passport. I did not bring any el... read complete review
