It's been a few days since I had my interview so I don't know if I'll remember everything correctly. However, as soon as I got back to the hotel after my interview I jotted down some notes so those should help. This is a very detailed review so get some popcorn! I put a TL;DR version at the end.
I stayed at the Hyatt Regency hotel, which is about a 5 minute walk from the embassy and about a 15 minute walk from the VIA train stain station.
The consulate is this big gray building with dark windows. It's on the corner of Boulevard Rene-Levesque and Rue Saint Alexandre. The entrance is on the side street (Rue Saint Alexandre), not on the main street. The entrance is two big glass double doors with the American crest on them. It lists the hours and what items are permitted inside (no cell phones, electronic devices, etc.) Don't bring anything you don't need! Just the paperwork and maybe some spare money and/or cards in your wallet.

I finally can write this!
Well, I am from Alberta, and have never been to Montreal. We paid about $1300 just to get out here for my medical and interview, so I wanted to help people from other provinces first and foremost save some money if they do have to come out here for an interview.
Firstly, we stayed at an apartment in Montreal through a reservation on AirBNB.com. We paid $30/night for a private room (all told, we paid $184 for 5 nights and 6 days). I was lucky enough to have my interview on Friday, August 19, so that meant that the last day we could do the medical was Monday, August 15. When you don't have to hang around over the weekend waiting for the interview, that saves some cash. We are starving students - the more money we can save, the better!

Interview was August 8, 2011
I arrived at about 6:50 and there were 7 others in front of me. One lady with a suitcase , which i new would be trouble. At 7:30 the security guard started letting people in, and the lady with the suitcase was rejected. Latter I found that she went to a local coffee shop and begged someone to take care of it.
The security checkpoint was just like going though an airport securty setup. Remove your belt, checked all your belongings, etc DO NOT take anything extra with you, they are serious about that! That went well and i was through in a minute. Then is was off to the basement to wait by the elevator. At 8:00 the security guard let about 10 people on the elevator and we went to the 19th floor where we were given numbers. Ok so I have ready probably every single consulate review on this website in order to prepare for today\'s Montreal immigration interview. It seemed like people had nothing but good things to say about this particular consulate so I was excited to get there and get through the process. No one was more surprised than me when it all turned into a HORRIBLE experience.
My husband and I got up at 5:30 a.m. and hopped on the metro in order to get to the consulate by 6:40. There were only 3 other people there - a single woman and then another couple. We patiently waited until 7:30 for security to open the doors. we had our interview letter and passports ready. We went through security making sure to think ahead and get everything out of our pockets and have it ready to put through the machine. We didn\'t bring wallets or purses of any kind. Just our documents and the clothes on our backs.

We had our interview appointment at 8 am, and we arrived at 6:30 am. There was no line at all, except for one other person and a couple. The doors did not open until about 7ish, I'm not too sure. But the line started to form momentarily. There was a guard that unlocked the chains that were inside of the doors, and opened them, then asked for our passports and the interview letter. We then proceeded to enter and went through another door and went through security, it was very quick. We had our car keys which had a keyless entry, so we had to give them the keys, and they give you a receipt to retrieve it when you're done. The guard then told us to take the stairs down to the waiting area where the elevator was. We went down and waited for about half an hour until another guard showed up, removed the ropes that were infront of the elevator.
