I showed up about 20 minutes before my interview and they started taking people in 15 minutes before the interview. I made sure not to bring any electronics but if you happen to bring your cellphone, you have to go through a secondary screening where they take it apart and tell you to keep it off. After getting in, I was directed to hand in my paperwork which was easy enough. They did not look at any of my evidence of ongoing relationship. I was told to sit, and I did for an hour. After an hour, I was called and the interview lasted approximately 6 minutes. I made an oath, was asked a few things about the wedding date and when I planned to POE, and I was approved. He said that my passport should only take a couple days and will be available for pickup this weekend. Everyone was very pleasant. Just make sure to bring a book/magazine.

Appointment 8:30am. Waited in line for a number along with everyone else. Sat until 9:50 when I handed in paperwork and got fingerprints. Then sat again and waited until 12:40pm for my interview. The lady was very kind and casual, and basically just asked me how I was and to tell her about my husband. So, my review is basically to say this: The people working there were all very nice, the wait time is brutal, the interview time does not mean that you will be seen at that time at all, and take a book!

I wish I was writing this as soon as I heard the news: "Welcome to America",so all the details are correct and I didn't forget anything. But I will try to recall all the details 2 days after the interview.
Went to the consulate the nite before so I knew exactly where to go. It was a 10 minute walk from the Hotel. I arrived at the consulate at around 7:15 and there were about 15 people already in line, all lined up to the left of the entrance. They started taking people in at 7:30. They asked for my passport and confirmation letter and was asked to wait in line. Once through the 2nd door, they looked at my passport and confirmation letter, took my little tiny purse any my eco-bag with my x-rays and all the paper work and placed it in a tray and x-rayed that. I went through the metal detector and they asked me if I had anything in my pockets, said no and was very pleasantly told hello by another security officer to go through that door, which you hav... read complete review

Left Brampton at 8am the day before, with only a few stops at rest stations for gas/food we made it to Montreal by just after 2pm. Stayed at Hotel la Tour Centre-Ville, which is by no means fancy (really outdated, not the most comfortable bed, weird room layout) but was relatively inexpensive and we were on the 15th floor and had a really nice view out the huge windows! There's also free wifi if you ask for an access code, but it is slower than dial up. The best part though, it's literally across the street and around a corner from the consulate. Unless you have to wait for the light to change, less than a minute walk! The parking lot for the hotel is much further away than the consulate is, even! We checked in, I went over all my documents and then we headed out with a friend of ours that lives in Montreal (friend from the site where Ramon and I met even, it felt fitting.) We had some dinner and saw some of the downtown area since it was a beautiful evening for walking and then headed... read complete review

A wonderful experience for us thanks to the advice of Visajourney's members on how to organize our documents and navigate the consulate. Thankfuly our case was not complicated and we were there for just a few hours (we were one of the first peoplein line and left at about 10:30). The consular officers were jovial and friendly - it felt wonderful to hear them welcome us to the USA after the unexpectedly long journey we've had.
