I had my interview in Vancouver this past wednesday aug 24th and it went really well!
I was more nervous than some folks would be because not only do I have a previous visa denial, but a border denial as well, and I was kind of traumatized from the border experience and was seriously afraid of how they would treat me at the consulate and what they would ask me about that day.
I went in, through security, and said good morning to every single person working and made sure I was very polite and they were as well. A guard took my upstairs and they sent me to a window right away where a man asked for all my forms (as listed on the consulate page) and he put them together. Also, I thought I should mention that I included a statement about my border denial (not enough ties to Canada) and although they did not ask for it, they did accept it, which I thought was great and could possibly save me from explaining it all the time when it came to AOS or whatever....So, he had all my forms and told me to take a seat and that he would give me a number and they would call me. They called me after waiting about 20 mins, though I was told it could be a few hours waiting. I went to window 6 (my fav number!!) and the guy was pretty casual. Asked me to swear and oath, and took my finger prints and then started asking me how J and I met, and then kind of the process of how we started dating, and then he asked me about what he did, what I did, then we chatted about music a bit, then he asked me about my previous F-1 visa and working in the U.S. and asked me when it expired etc, then he asked me if J had met my parents, and how we stayed in touch. He didn't ask for any proof or anything and didn't ask me about my denials at all, and then he was just really casual and circled "issued" and signed the form and the other copy, then told me to go back to the sitting area and that the other guy was going to call me up and ask me some more questions. So I sat back down, and I thought maybe the other guy was going to ask about the border thing, but he just called me, and gave me some instructions, gave me back my passport so that I could go pick up my medical, and then told me to come back and drop it all off and that DHL would have it in about a week.
So, part two, my medical at Woking. My interview was the same day at 10am, and I was worried about making it there on time so I went to Woking at 5am! I was first in line, and pretty much first out of there too! I think as long as you have all your docs they ask for in order, (make sure you have tDAP!!!) then you'll get out of there fast. They were all very nice and helpful, and very efficient!! I was first in (take a number, I was number 1) and I was out by 8am! amazing! I had time to eat breakfast and then I went to the consulate at 9:30 (which was a great idea because then I had my interview around 10:30) The only thing was that they accidentally sent me the wrong Vaccination records for my AOS, but I emailed them and they responded right away and are mailing mine over. Great service at Woking!
Ok, so after interview, I went back to Woking to get my medical results which were in a sealed envelope. I took them back to the consulate around 1:40pm and again the guards took me upstairs, and I waited for about 20 mins (by myself! haha! as it was their lunch break i guess) and then the same guy took my medical and opened it right in front of me, then told me I was perfectly healthy (which was a nice courtesy I thought) and then took my passport and told me about DHL again, and I left! Again, all very nice and friendly and helpful.
So, don't worry, just go and smile and be organized with your docs. I did everything through the guides at VJ and it will more than prepare you! Good luck!!! javascript:emoticon('')javascript:emoticon('')javascript:emoticon('')
