Review Topic: K1 Visa

Showed up at the medical at about 5:55am and 6 other people were already there waiting outside. We stood out side until someone showed up to let us in. Got in the elevator and went up to the 2nd floor. We were told to grab a number in the order we showed up. filled out some papers and was directed to go get blood work. Then went for our chest x-ray, followed by our external medical and an eye exam.
Showed up at my interview and had to wait outside. Someone came and saw me and asked which visa I was getting. Checked me off the list and was escorted inside. went through a security check and was escorted upstairs, they scanned my medical envelope for anthrax and then was escorted up the elevator. Was sent immediately to window B. Was asked to put my documents in a specific order. She went through them then gave me a number. I sat there for about 30 minutes till my number was called. I went to another window where the guy looked over my file, asked me where we met, and that was it.... read complete review

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

We arrived On Wednesday July 13th for my medical at Medysis on Sherbrooke Ave in Montreal. Had a quick exam by the Dr. (tapped my knees, palpatated my tummy and a quick visual check to see if I was a female lol; blood work and chest x-ray) Professional and quick. $213.00 (USD)
Day before interview we stayed at the Holiday Inn Midtown, which is next door to the medical clinic to go pick up thje results, (they need three full business days to process your paperwork) and a 7 minute easy walk to the US Consulate. We did the walk-by to determine the location of the Consultate and the time to walk there.
Arrive at 6:35 am Tusday morning, first in line, my husband went around the corner to get a Timmies. :-)
The Consulate is on a side street, double glass doors, clearly marked, line up to the left. At 7:30 am doors opened, went through security. DO NOT take anything you do not need, I had a small purse plus my binder, they went through the purse and took out two memory s... read complete review

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

My interview was really easy and very stress free! I arrived just before 7am, and was fourth in line. The line got really long shortly after that. At 7:30 a guard checked our interview letters and let us in. We had to wait to go through security one-by-one. After security I went and sat as close to the elevator as possible, as did other VJ'ers and the guard let us go up in the elevator just before 8am. I stood in line for my ticket and got CR3 and sat and waited to be called. Once I had handed in my original documents, my fingerprints were taken, my DS 230 was handed in (it is a great idea to fill this out at home and bring it with you as it saves a lot of time!), and it was time for my interview! I was only the second interview, and it was short and sweet. A very nice blonde lady did my interview, but she was also training someone else, so she really only asked me two questions - how did I meet my husband and where would I be living. Other than that she spent the next 5 minut... read complete review

We got there around 7:15am and waited in line outside until about 7:30. They wanted to see our interview letter before they would even let us in the door. Once we showed the security guard our letter we waited to go through security. It was like going through security at the airport. We then went down the stairs and waited about 15 mniutes. There was a photo booth there incase you forget your pictures!!! We then crammed ourselves in the elevator and went up the 19th floor. Once we got out of the elevator we got in line and got a number. We sat down and waited for our number to appear on the screen. When our number was called we went back and they asked for the beneficary's passport, the 2 pictures and the medical results and also wanted a DS-230 filled out which I already had done . We were then asked to go sit down and wait to be called again. We waited about 30 min and out number was called again. This time they asked for the AOS, police check, marriage certificate and beneficary's l... read complete review

Review Topic: K1 Visa

The medical went very smoothly, in and out by about 8:30 AM.
Medical was approved by 1:15 PM the same day (July 6th, 2011) and had my results immediately and out the door.

Interview went by smoothly UNTIL it was pointed out that my father was a US Citizen, and by law, it is illegal to issue a K1 Visa to a possible Dual Citizen (Such as myself)

I now have to go through a totally different route, figure out if my biological father meets the residency requirements and then file for a US passport.
I wish I would've known at the very beginning before Alex and I set out on this adventure, but I didn't find out until May of 2011, 2 months before my interview and about.. 6 months after we had first petitioned for my K1 Visa.

On the upside to all of this, I may not have to give up Canadian Citizenship, and neither will my 3 year old daughter.. and if I cannot prove that my father met the residency requirements, then our K1 Visas are alr... read complete review
