I had my interview in Vancouver this past wednesday aug 24th and it went really well!
I was more nervous than some folks would be because not only do I have a previous visa denial, but a border denial as well, and I was kind of traumatized from the border experience and was seriously afraid of how they would treat me at the consulate and what they would ask me about that day.
I went in, through security, and said good morning to every single person working and made sure I was very polite and they were as well. A guard took my upstairs and they sent me to a window right away where a man asked for all my forms (as listed on the consulate page) and he put them together. Also, I thought I should mention that I included a statement about my border denial (not enough ties to Canada) and although they did not ask for it, they did accept it, which I thought was great and could possibly save me from explaining it all the time when it came to AOS or whatever....So, he had all my f... read complete review

I went for my interview Aug 25th. I arrived at the doors just after 630am, there was a gentlmen there ahead of me... he is on VJ too. (I just read his review and I am sorry I didn't get your name LOL) It helped to have someone to talk to to pass the time. Other people started showing up, got to know a few others, it seemed I was the only one doing the K1 there that day! The experience was intresting and I agree with everyone it is easy but it is very hard to hear when they annouce anything or some of the people behind the windows are hard to hear too. So sit right in front of the two small screens that show the numbers (C1 or 2 etc..) and what number window to go too. It is right in front of the chldren's play area and by the elevator.
So when I was called to the 1st window, the guy I had, I couldn't hear him, so I had to keep asking him to repeat himself (so I think that set him off) For he wasn't a very nice man to me.I had messed up and registered wrong (my birth mont... read complete review

Just wanted to say my experience was very good, and I was in and out quickly.
Got there at 630am and was the first one in line. Around 645, more people showed up. By 730, there was a huge line up. There was one woman that I was chatting with and she was a fellow VJ\'er too. (I didn\'t get her name but if she\'s reading this, I hope it all worked out for you!)Doors opened around 730, line up to the left of the doors. Once in, went through the security check and made my way downstairs. Sat next to the elevator, and around 8am, the security guard only allowed permanent visa applicants up first. I was first and received C1. Now, the numbers don\'t really mean anything because C3 and C6 were called to the windows first, then C1 and C2. Now, while you wait, there were more people arriving via elevator and that waiting room got really packed in 20 minutes. My biggest beef is the noise level...every one is chatting PLUS there is a kiddie play area which was noisy...it made it ve... read complete review

I went to Montreal for my K1 visa. Using Expedia I stayed at a small character hotel on Rue Stanley called Manoir Ambrose. It is short walk to the Consulate. I used the 747 metro express bus to and from the airport, it cost $8.00 and is good for 24 hours and also could have been used for any other bus/subway.
I woke up bright and early full of excitement and ready to leave my hotel room by 6:15 am. All I took with me was my accordion folder of documents, my wallet, reading glasses and hotel keys. I walked up Rue Stanley a short distance, then on to Rue St Catherine for 10-15 minutes which then brought me to Rue St. Alexandre....very easy to get to. I was too excited to have breakfast but there were many places already open along the way. On arrival at the Consulate I saw someone sitting on the curb and a couple standing together, I knew I had found the Consulate! The four of us chatted, three of us being VJ members. Shortly after getting there the line up began. I think... read complete review

We were a DCF case as my USC husband lives in Canada. From Vancouver, I flew to Montreal for my interview. Used priceline to get a great deal on Le Meridien Versailles Hotel on rue Sherbrooke ($85/night), 2 metro stops and short walk from Consulate.
I woke up at 5:15am day of the interview, left my luggage (cell phone, purse too) at the hotel and departed 6am. Took the metro (started at Guy-Concordia Station) to McGill Station. Walked to the Consulate from there, stopping at McDonald\'s enroute at rue St. Catherine for breakfast. Left McD\'s at 6:50am with my coffee. A few mins later was at the door to consulate on rue St. Alexandre. There was one person there ahead of me. Lined up to the left of glass double doors. By about 7:20am the line was at least 10 people long, maybe more.
I carried only a plastic shopping bag as recommended by VJers. Had my docs in an accordian file folder. Also brought lipgloss, small lotion from the hotel, hotel key, cash,... read complete review
