Dhaka Consulate experience was good I would say, except for the security guards who actually acts like active US army....
I think there are two open secrets to pass the interview easily...
1. Attending the interview the USC Spouse
2. Bring atleast 100+ photo
USC spouse is allowed to attend the interview with the beneficiary. So it helps the MOST. In additional to that bring as much photo as u can....
Good Luck...

I could not attend the interview because I am in the USA. My husband arrived at the embassy by 6:30 am..he was let in with other applicants at 8 am. Although his appointment letter said 8 am, He was not seen until 4:30 pm. They called visa classes in order and Immigrant visa applicants were called last. The Bangladeshi woman that took the fingerprints was rude..but the American consular officer was nice and was impressed that my husband spoke fluent English (thanks to me). Although I submitted the original marriage certificate and a certified copy of the certificate she told my husband they did not have it. She still approved him at his interview and gave him a receipt to bring the marriage certificate in on Sunday to issue his visa.

Appointment time 8:00 AM. We reached the Embassy at around 7:00 AM. We were let in at 8:00AM. All were directed to appropriate room to wait and to be called. Well, we waited and were called after an hour. A Bangladeshi lady took Original Marriage certificate, Police certificate and asked my wife to wait for the fingerprint to be taken. About 45 minutes later she was called for her finger printing. About an hour later she was called for the interview. In the interview, consulate asked her when and where the wedding was. How many people were invited? Where did we go for our Honeymoon? She looked at the pictures and that’s all. Visa was granted. 3 hours we were there, the real work took only 15 minutes and the rest of the time we were just sitting in line. I thought the process went rather smoothly in contrary to the popular belief. We went to pick up the visa the next day and were successful getting it.

The interview went well, my husband was put on AP and told he will be contacted when AP has been complete. Two index fingerprints were taken.
After 4 and half month, he was contacted by the embassy to submit his passport. Praying for a good ending to this journy.

The people that answer the phones are just plain lazy and a waste of American tax dollars as they are shrewd and unwilling to cooperate. All my communication had to be via E-mail, including my getting my initial appointment back in January of 2007. You'll be lucky if you catch an American on the phone, as it seems like they are the only ones that cooperate.
Anyway, we arrived at the US Consulate in Baridharah, Dhaka around 6:45 am and got in line. As early as we was, there were still about 50 people ahead of us in line. Around 7:50 am they started trickling people into the embassy. What i found rather dumb was the idea of ripping open the medical packet outside the gates, prior to entering for the interview. I mean the whole idea of taking the medical reports in a closed and sealed envelope is to help avoid tampering of the documents within right?
So then, why rip it open, before the interview, while people are standing in line where they have ample time ... read complete review
