My fiance's experience was the same as all the other reviews posted here. We're so glad to have this forum as it eased our minds beforehand. The interview was scheduled for 8am and he was done in less than an hour. This is second-hand, so I didn't comment on every step.
The interviewer asked how we met, (online, playing WoW - Interviewer commented on how popular that was), about what I did for work in the US, my kids (he flipped to the petition to verify that my fiance answered correctly). He asked about my fiance's trip to the US and my family. My fiance mentioned meeting my kids and my brother. I think that was pretty much it. Like everyone else in this forum, my fiance had a good experience for his interview. Short & Sweet. I think we provided plenty of evidence of relationship with petition so they didn't ask for more. I arrived in Sydney the night before the interview to allow plenty of time to make it to the MLC Building (and not stress with delayed flights). Stayed at the Sofitel Wentworth on Philip Street which was just one block away.
Initially my interview was for 9am; however, the Consulate emailed me and requested if it could be changed to 11am, which I agreed as I had booked my flights for later in the afternoon to fly out of Sydney.
I headed to the consulate around 10:20am... the lifts were easy to work out, especially if you have been into CBD highrises before... quickly went upto level 10 and followed the signs around to the consulate security office. They walked me through the metal detector and x-rayed my small bag that i had with me. I had a camera, headphones and an iphone charger in there, and they requested to see them for security purposes, then gave me a number to retrieve my bag when I came back down. When I got to the MLC centre about 10 minutes before my 8am interview time, I caught the lift up to level 10, the lifts were kind of around the back of the building, but not too hard to find. Once you get out of the lift, there are all sorts of medical offices and stuff that you have to walk past, around what is a surprisingly long corridor. There was no queue at security, so I went up, they made me take my phone out of my bad for screening, and checked my name off on the list. Once I was duly screened, they put my bag in a cubby hole thing, and gave me a card for reclaiming it, and told me to keep my paperwork and my wallet (which I didn't need, but anyway). Then they told me to take a seat in the front row - there were 4 rows of 6 chairs, and I was person number 6, so the last in the front row. There was a DVD playing which I didn't really pay attention to. After a while, at about 8:05 a security guard came and took the 6 of us in the front row to the lift up to the 51st floor. Nothing to it Actually
Just reminded me of getting my drivers licence renewed...or buying a ticket to ravel on the city rail.
some cakes and coffee in the corner would have been lovely....or how about some of them tiny hotdogs..

I have been to the US Consulate previously in the MLC for a C1-D visa when I was working on a cruise ship. However, that was back in 2007, so my memory on where it was, or what it looked like was fading. However, once I found the building, it all came flooding back.
MLC is a massive building located on the corner of King and Castlereagh Streets in Sydney, Australia. As mentioned in previous reviews, there are signs around Sydney that gives directions on how to get there. On top of that, there are signs everywhere on the building stating its MLC-ness 
Thankfully, at the very bottom of the building, there is a semi-foodcourt. There are coffee shops that are open from about 7am (maybe earlier) and also a newsagent. This proved to be beneficial to settle the nerves - A coffee, toasted cheese, ham and tomato and a pack of chewing gum.
