My appointment was for 8am but due to nerves and insomnia i decided to head the consulat earlier and wait. In the end it paid off as i was out by 8:45am. The times was taken up due to the ticket machine not working and waiting. The interview itself took 5 mins.

Questions asked were

"When did you meet your fiance?"
"What were the circumstance on how you met"
"How many times have you been to America"
"When was the last time you were in America"
How many times has your boyfriend been to Australia"
"Where does he work"

At this point i told her that he was a security officer on base and she commented that she had been to that base for a wedding and we had a general discussion on the PX on base for a minute after which she told me I was approved.

She then handed me back a stack of papers and here is where it gets interestin. In those papers was my passport which i asked if she needed and i was told... read complete review

The entire interview process took less than 20 minutes. Was asked basic questions (where did you meet, have you met parents) and then told that the visa was approved. Consular officer also was very quick to offer flight reservation tips and a tracking number for the visa.

Embassy in general was fairly responsive to questions via e-mail and we would get responses to questions usually within a couple of days.

P met with the Consulate at 11 am. He went up to the floor that they described and handed in his information. He waited around an hour and then went to the furthest window to go through the paperwork. Handed in packet 4 items. Sat down for 30 minutes waiting.

Met with the consulate. Asked how we meet / where we meet / when we met/ how much time we spent together over time / what job he had when he was in Colorado before the process started (then he went to Sydney to wait for the process) / how often we have seen each other / how we communicate while apart

He fumbled through our documents.

congratulations you have your visa - you will receive the visa in 7 - 10 days.

On the I -134 it asks for id make sure that if you are the petitioner that you submit a copy of your passport (I did not but that was not an issue) just a note.

Approved left at 1:30pm (so 2 hours there)

My three sons and I flew to Sydney the night before our interview and stayed at the Travelodge Phillip Street (recommended by a fellow VJ) and it was fabulous. Its literally around the corner from the MLC building and so convenient. My appointment wasn't until 11am the following day but I spent that night dreaming that I'd missed the interview (not a nice feeling...lol).
I'd previously read on the reviews that many applicants go early to their appointments so we arrived at the MLC building around 10.20am. There was a gentleman that sits at the top of the esculators and I told him we had an appointment with the US Consulate, he headed us in the right direction toward the back of the building for the lifts to level 10.
We followed the signs to the US Consulate and lined up to go through the security check. They asked for our passports, the letter of appointment and to put all our belongs onto the scranner. They then gave us a ticket for our bags and told us to just take the... read complete review

Can't say the process was that bad as have been to consulate before last year. Just feel like it is a cattle call. Not very personal at all as you have to speak through glass and everyone can hear your personal business. The first girl was great where I handed in all my documents and we went over the checklist and all was in order. She told me 3-5 days for visa. Then I sat and waited for interviewer whom I think was a newbie and he fumbled over my papers over and over and asked same questions about 3 times and he had the proof right in front of him. Typed all my answers in and then turns around and says they are missing one of my fiance's divorce decrees. There were 3 he said they only had 2 and they need it, even though it was sent to USCIS and approved but somehow they don't have it here. So he said I did not have to come in again just to post it in and then it will be finalised as everything was in order. Never told me about my envelope nothing lucky I knew gave me no time line as to... read complete review
