Peter was nervous because several people before him were being grilled for about 30 minutes. When it came his turn he was asked three questions and then was approved. He did have issues about the rudeness of the lady he went to. He told me that it was to early for her to have a bad day. He said she basically tried to belittle him.
Expediency was very fast. But rudeness gets the rating a 3.

Just got back from the consulate with a nice little letter saying that my application was approved!

Great experience at the Sydney consulate. I had a 9am appointment and went in and sat and waited for about half an hour. I was then called up and a nice older lady checked through all my paperwork for about another 15 minutes... painful wait for me. she then told me everything looked good and i would be called up soon for my interview. I waited probably another 40 mins watching and listening to everyone else get interviewed and hearing their questions. A few people were sent home empty handed because of lack of documentation, which got me a lil nervy. Then finally i hear my name called out and i go up to window number 7 where there was a really lovely, super friendly, younger girl who made me swear on the info and sign a bit of paper and she then asked me

No matter what you read it is still nerve wracking to be finally catching the lift to the 10th floor. The guys in security are really lovely and wanted to put us at our ease. I had a file of papers with me which I was allowed to take up after they had scanned it, everything else stayed. I didn't bring much anyway.
Sat to wait our turn to go up to level 59, and where taken up really quickly. Went through the 2nd security check and then into the main room. Only just took our number and were called to the window. The clerk was a bit grumpy and curt with me which just made me feel more nervous. She asked for the things that I had been asked to bring to my interview. Handed it all over and then we sat back down. We waited about 10 minutes and were recalled to her window. I had left a question on the form unanswered and she was really grumpy about that, but fixed it anyway. Then she started asking about my son and his K2 status. As we talked she told me that what I was planning would... read complete review

The US Consulate staff in Sydney Australia were AMAZING!

They were extremely friendly, helpful, happy and kind. They did there job and did it well, but made me feel very comfortable which helped me ease my nerves (I had so many). The CO who interviewed me was so super friendly, we got the job done (Believe me they sure did make sure all the boxes were ticked) but it was so great.

To anyone about to head to Sydney for an interview, rest assured they will take good care of you!

Interview 7th February 2012 10am.

On the night before the interview (6th Feb), I flew the redeye to Sydney arriving at 6am. This was a challenge, but necessary due to work on Monday and Wednesday.

Got a cab from the Airport and arrived at the MLC centre at about 9am. Went up to the 10th floor at about 9:05am and was told it was too early and to come back in half an hour. I came back at 9:35am and they checked my passport and ticked my name off the list. Then went through a metal detector and they x-rayed my belongings. I had a satchel bag that had my document folder, I left the bag and took the folder with me. Left my phone as well and they gave me a ticket for all my items and told me to present it later to get my stuff back. They were pretty nice, even after turning me away earlier for being early.

I sat in the chairs on lvl 10 and then was called to the elevator where they scanned a card and sent me up to the embassy (59th floor?) Outside... read complete review
