I had my IV interview rescheduled from Dec 18 to December 14 at 8am. Got to MLC Building, and found another interviewee, Natalie. We both went up at 7.40am. The lift to the 10th floor won't open til 7.30am.
It was funny because as soon they asked us to line up inside to get our paperwork sorted, the two ladies sorting out our papers had the wrong list of interviewees for the day so we all had to go out again and reline up after 5 minutes.
Had to take my shoes off, then they took my small purse, and I was able to take everything else upstairs. My ears popped 3 times going up to the 59th floor. Then you take a number...I was applicant 203.
A few minutes later, a lady took all my documents. She returned the photocopies as I have submitted mine all electronically. Had to wait half an hour before doing another set of biometrics and oath in front of a female Officer. She was actually quite nice...not as stern. Asked me a few casual questions, similar to the ones... read complete review

I attended my interview in April 2018. Very smooth process. Had all my documents in the requested order, they transferred them to another file and told me to wait in the waiting room.
Called up, asked very minor questions about my fiance (now husband) e.g. full name, his parents names, have I met his parents etc.
Approved on the day, received my passport back 3 days later via DHL.

Warning to Syd filers - locking in an appointment date with the US consulate in Sydney that suits you can be hard. Keep that in mind. I waited over 2 months from NOA2 until the first available interview date.
The MLC building is easy enough to get to from Martin Place train station - as others mentioned don't bring anything with you that you don't need. I will note - I had paperclipped my documents together and put little post-it notes on them ('MRV fee', 'Bank statement', 'Ongoing evidence') etc, the lady before security went through my files and ripped off all the paperclips and post it notes and threw them away. So um yeah, that's a waste of time. Don't bother with that haha.
The interview itself is fine, I didn't feel like they are trying to catch you out or give you a hard time. If you are an honest, real, couple then it kind of feels like a casual conversation:
'When did you meet'
'How many times have you visited'
'When did you l... read complete review

My interview was scheduled for 10:30am, but I met with another fellow VJ downstairs at 9am, and her interview was at 9:30am so I thought i'd try my luck and head in with her (and I wanted to watch the victorious moment she was approved)
We both went through the security check area together and tbh they didn't even ask me what time my interview was so I just strolled on through.
Like others have explained in previous reviews you RACE others out of the elevator to get the first number ticket (jks)
The first time your number is called it's purely for fingerprints and they take your documents.
I probably waited around half an hour before being called to my interview and I had the pleasure of listening to others love stories and proposals, LEGIT you can hear everything.
I thankfully got called to a counter they'd just opened right down the end near the window so I had no audience but I was asked the following questions.
- How did you and your fianc... read complete review

I had an 08:00 interview and when I arrived at 07:35 there was already a bit of a queue. Definitely advise making sure you have no big electronics (one guy had to leave because he had a laptop), photocopies of all original documents (certificates etc they require - one person was told they may have to leave and get copies) and an express post envelope if required.
You can definitely hear every word of these interviews and I heard application get approved and one get maybe rejected (an income issue) right in front of me.
I was really stressed, but the guy who interviewed me was really friendly and our case was approved. I got asked general questions like how we met, if my wife had been to Australia, if I had been to US and more specific questions related to what I was saying (i.e I mentioned we'd been on holidays to Africa and was asked which countries in Africa we went to) that felt more conversational.
I was out of there by 9:10, calling my... read complete review
