Well i am algerian woman spouse of an US citizen. I had my CR1 visa interview on June 19th, 2014 at th e US Embassy in Algiers. It was a very long day since i leave far away from Algiers. Anyway, i got there at 1:15pm (13h:15), they took my passport outside before i enetered and they gave me the visitor card with my turn number ( i had number 6). Then a woman asked me to enter to check my stuff and take my phone with my ID card. I was shown where to go then so i went to the waiting room. After few minutes a man called on me and asked me to go to one of the gate ( don't rememebr the number of it) he gave back to me some of the papers that they don't need, he asked me for a new criminal record, and for new photographs ( since the ones i've sent to NVC weren't the good ones, the same man had already called me on phone when i was on my way to Algiers and asked me to take new pictures and bring them with me for the interiew cuz they weren't goinna accept the ones i've sent to NVC, cuz my e... read complete review

My husband went to the consulate today for his interview, which was supposed to be 6/26, but they called him a few weeks ago and said to bring his original appointment letter but come on 6/24. He had no problems getting in, and we were prepared with all kinds of recent evidence (phone records, emails, bank statements, tax returns, etc.), but they did not ask for any of it. When it was his turn, he went to the window, and he said the consular officer was friendly. He said they asked him only a few questions: how we met, what his mother thought about me, what family members I have met in person, what I do for a living, what he thinks he will do for a living once he is here, what he did for a living now. Then they gave him a receipt, and he waited for another officer to call his name. She gave him her congratulations, and she explained what to expect further, that his passport would be ready in 5 days, and he would receive a big envelope in the mail, etc. He said the experience was... read complete review

Everything was much simpler than I had imagined.
The day began as I (the petitioner) arrived with my wife (the beneficiary) at about 1:15pm for her 1:30pm appointment. We checked in by showing the interview letter and then proceeding to the security check. The guards will keep electronics, phones, flash disks, etc. It is okay to bring as much evidence as you can imagine because we brought a bag full of albums among other things and it didn't cause any problems with security.
There were quite a few tourist interviews, which were handled before our appointment. And then there was one K-1 interview, two CR-1 interviews and a F-2A. All of the tourist visa interviews seemed to have been granted. I think they were part of an educational program because it seemed too easy in comparison to what I've read on VJ. The K-1 visa was approved. My CR-1 was approved and the other got a request for additional evidence. The F-2A also got a request for a... read complete review

We actually had to go through two interviews Our original interview was scheduled for November 21, 2013. We had made sure to check with the consulate on email beforehand about the DS-160 form to check if he needed to fill it out, and they told me "no, he needs to bring "x" form with him." Kamel did as instructed, and upon going for this interview, was turned away by an Algerian receptionist (who apparently wasn't up to date on the requirements). When I heard this, I was enraged, and after an email to the consulate (which took 2 weeks to answer), we were giving a second interview date for December 29, 2013. This was after Kamel had been told he needed to schedule his own interview, and there were only FEBRUARY DATES available. So we were happy to have a solution, despite losing a month of our time. Anyway, he took the evidence of my correspondence with the consulate to make sure things were in order for his interview.
He said at the interview, the VA only asked ... read complete review
