I first applied for my fiance's visa in June (you can view my timeline) and it was processed through the California Service Center. The US consulate in Kabul sent us an e-mail on October 1st stating that his interview was on October 4th! Needless to say we weren't given much time but luckily I am OCD and had everything prepared other than the medical exam.
That same day I called the American clinic (it's the only clinic where you can get your medical done) and they told me they were booked until the end of October Luckily, they did not make it required to have the medical before the interview. Maybe they are trying to schedule as many interviews as possible by the end of the year. I was told you couldn't book an appointment for a medical examination until you had the interview date otherwise I would have booked sooner.
The morning of the interview my fiance arrived at 7am (30 mins before his scheduled interview) through the south entr... read complete review

My fiance had his medical exam on June 29, 2015. He got all his vaccinations, but they did not require him to pay the full $500 fee. The medical results were not received or processed by the embassy; although the other petitioners were not getting their visas that day either because it seemed that other's medical results were not in yet either. The embassy kept the other applicant's passports, but not my fiance's; but were all put in AP.
He arrived at the embassy at 6:30 am for his 7:30 am interview and was in line for about an hour. He left his documents and they seemed to spend time reviewing them, but did not look at our pictures we had together. They kept the folder for financial support and his translated tazkira. In addition to other supporting documentation, I had sent a copy of my tax return and transcripts from the IRS directly.
They didn't ask too many questions, but they seemed to focus on how we met. He is Pashtun and I am European desce... read complete review

My fiance had his interview June 2013 and was in AP for 6 months when embassy called him for second interview. At the end of interview, consular congratulated him, saying welcome to goingto America, come next week to pick up your visa. He went the following week and was told, sorry you are still in AP. He had just quite his job since he was aboutbto leave for US.
It is now 20 months later since the first interview and no answer.
I believe they forgot our case. They have no idea hiw their action effects people's lives,.
We just need us to be together and start living. Feel very lost.

Before my interview I sent a few emails and they were answered quickly. They gave me an interview for 2 weeks later after they received my file. Interview was fine, the interviewer was very nice and friendly. Overall, a very good experience. they are very fast and efficient and responsive.
