Hi, our NOA 2 expires on March 6th 2008. my question is, what is its purpose, does that mean we have until March 6th to be interviewed or does he have to be here before the expiration? When is the point that we should apply for an extension of the NOA 2. I ask because we may have to apply for a waiver for a Home Residency Requirement from a previous Student Visa my fiance had so we may have to push out our immigration appt. (That is if we ever actually get our petition to NVC!) Just wondering.

The consulate will automatically extend your NOA2 approval if an interview isn't granted before then. If you prefer, you can always email the consulate to extend the approval date further.

You do not have to wait for home residency to apply for Visa. After the interview, they won't issue a visa until you complete 2 years. But, you can simply just finish 2 years and marry. You can also apply for waiver. Please update your time like and add your noa2 date

It's not always true that they will extend your expiry date automatically, so I suggest you email no earlier than a month before the NOA2 expires if you haven't got an interview before then. Just to be on the safe side!

The embassy should extend the NOA as long as the packet is there with them

 This is what the Consulate told me after I contacted them, our interview had to be re-scheduled and by the time they finally set a date our NOA2 will be expired. They told me the Consul will extend it's validity.

Like others said already, maybe you can give them a call to be 100% sure.
