AHH! Thank you guys for renewed hope! I came in from Ecuador after Christmas, and was shocked to see the new passport thing at Newark. Thought maybe it was just for US citizens, but it's for all people through immigration? Nice! That will take way less time and questioning, hopefully.

So.. WE BOUGHT TICKETS! My fiance will be here a little before Valentines Day (!) & will be staying through to April for my sister's wedding (which we're both in). So excited! & so happy to hear everyone is having an easy time at JFK! That's where he'll be flying in at! Worth the hour extra drive to avoid my least favorite airport.... (Newark).. lol! :) So happy to be able to be together again <3

Hi! So your fiancee is coming soon! That's exciting! My fiancee is planning on coming at the end of March. I'm a little worried that they won't let him in! He's planning on coming through JFK. JFK is actually better than Newark?

I'm sorry to bother you!

Thank you

Kelly

I am visiting my fiance in 4 weeks. We are waiting for NOA2. I am planning on bringing a letter from my boss and a copy of the letter we received as noa1. Would that be enough?

YES! He arrived yesterday at JFK. To answer your questions, you will most likely not have ANY issues (don't quote me, though, hahaha. it's different for everyone, and is dependent on your customs officer, too)! My fiance went through just fine! People don't believe me when I say this, but I SWEAR that JFK is better than Newark with immigration, which is why we picked it.

Immigration took my fiance 2 minutes, and it went just like this:

"Hi, how are you?"
"Good!"

"How long are you planning to visit?"

(hands flight itinerary) "72 days."

"Where are you coming from?"

"Ecuador."

"What's the purpose of your visit?"

"To attend a friend's wedding and visit my fiance and her family."

"Okay, enjoy your stay."

Literally SO easy just like the first time he came! No evidence needed. No visa questions. Nothing.

Make sure you do your ESTA, by the way! :) And print out the acceptance. They wanted to see that for those in line and had my fiance go through a different and easier line (still don't get why, hahaha) because he had his ESTA.

They didn't ask for it, but I recommend bringing whatever evidence just in case anyways. Like I've said, airport immigration is different in different POEs (even though people try telling me that's not true, but I disagree! depends on the officer, but I find in general some POEs better than others). I find JFK to be the easiest in our experiences, but we still prepared anyways. Write a letter of intent, bring your visa application just in case, a round trip ticket/itinerary, and anything else (employment letters, pay stubs, rental agreements, etc.). My fiance only had a letter that I wrote about his stay (make sure you say where you'll be staying, purpose of trip, etc. you can google some examples, or if you want, private message me, and I'll give you an idea of what I wrote) and a round trip plane ticket. That was it! And they didn't ask to see any of it.

Good luck to everyone!! :) We are so happy to be together again! :D It's so worth the risk.

Hey guys,

I was contemplating visiting my Fiancee for her birthday in May, I have been on two trips in the last 12 months both 2 months long with 4 months in between, I just got back from the second one but I really want to make it for her birthday.

My point of entry is LAX and I'm just curious to see if LAX is considered a ''tough'' point of entry or a relatively ''easy'' point of entry.

Is there anything I should bring to prove ties to the Australia? (My home country)

Finally do you think I will have any problems entering in such a short time? I plan on staying for about a month this time.

Thanks.

Ben.

I've never had any problems going through LAX

Edit: however, I should mention for those who haven't been there before that I feel it's quite a confusing airport and personally wouldn't want to change there unless I had at least 2.5-3 hours in which to do so.

Hello all! I'd like some advice on the following:

My fiance (Canada) and I filed our petition and received an NOA1 Jan 15,2015. With that information I highly doubt we will have a NOA2 before the end of the summer. I'd like to at least have him spend a month with me in the summer to look at houses and universities (he'd like to transfer next year maybe after getting settled here). I'm curious if anyone has any comments regarding that idea? Would his Canadian passport be suffice for him to stay about 30 days with me?

Thank you

Yes, bring ties back to Canada but there shouldn't be any problem :) Longest I've stayed is 2 weeks and I never had any problem. If comes by plain train of bus, easier if they have the ticket for when he returns. Other than that letter from employer and what not. I am confident there shouldn't be any problem for you :)

Thank you :3 His contract will be ending with the Canadian Coast Guard so he won't have proof of employment, I read that other documents proving personal property "back home" should be enough.

Hi guys!

My fiancé received his interview appointment letter today, and it is 5 weeks away. I am trying to bring him out for about 4 weeks between then and now, to wait it out, and I am curious as to whether or not anyone has traveled to the U.S. after they had an interview scheduled? He was here for 78 days over Thankssgiving and Christmas, and went back to England on the 14th of January. I was thinking that his interview letter, and a return ticket would be good? He lives with his parents and isn't working (trying to wrap up his life in the UK before the final move haha). Would this cause any problem with the visa, ya think? I'd like to have him here for my birthday, which is the 27th.

Thanks!

I will share our story for future filers. Didn't read the whole thread, maybe someone already had such experience but anyways.

I have a 3 year tourist visa to US and came to visit my then boyfriend now fiance on October 8 2014(I was admitted to the country until Apr 07 2015). At first it was my plan to leave in 3 weeks, but since my work contract was done we decided I could stay longer. So while I stayed as a tourist we got engaged and filed K-1 petition with NOA-1 date Jan 02 2015 (knowing that I will need to go back for the interview and everything else to Russia). So our petition was approved Feb 13 2015 and I am still in US. Now I am planning to leave to get ready for the next step-medical.

Pretty much for those who are doubting if they can be with their loved ones during the process-yes you can.

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all well.

My question is:

Can my fiance (American petitioner) visit me with a one-way ticket providing he can prove he'll return? For example, he is doing his masters and will need to return to start the new semester, and he also has property to pay for.

Just so you know, I'm a British citizen and he is an American citizen. We've already met in person twice, have started the K1 Visa process (Application sent 9th Feb) with the California service center, and have NOA1 as of 12th Feb.

So, why is he travelling with a one-way ticket though?...

We are anticipating that our K1 visa will be granted to me by the end of August, if not, he will return alone without me. If it is then we'd like to then return to the US together

Neither of us have had any issues with boarder security when travelling to see each other. We've always been truthful and have even had officers wish us well with the wedding planning (when I visited in December 2014)!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

(F)
