Welcome to another monthly thread for those going through NVC

Please read everything below and refer to it throughout your NVC journey, whether this is your first month at NVC or your third. :bonk:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Before posting questions, please read the wiki Saylin wrote on the NVC process here. Once you're done, read it one or two more times to really understand it ;)Don't forget to also read the official form instructions as well as USCIS and NVC's websites!
If you want to see a visual of the NVC process, please view Saylin's flowchart here.
Yes this thread was created by our great Queen Saylin and the knowledge is still going forward. This thread I pray stays alive and well as many who have gone through the process or still going can chime in and help and assist.
If you're wondering about time frames, look at the fellow members right here in this thread! Study their signatures/timelines and make notes. VJ also has this awesome page. Use it! I sure did during my process smile.png That means if you are on this thread WE expect you to have an up to date timeline.
And once you've got a case complete, please join the case complete/interview thread started by me, Dwheels76 on (currently May 2018 thread),
Hello guys! How are you? I hope everyone is ok. I really need some help right now about my DS-260/IV application online on NVC website. My husband is stationed in Germany because he is an Active Duty Military in U.S. Army and his address is:
(This is an overseas military address)
CMR 000 BOX 000
City: APO
State: AE
Zip Code: 00000
the problem is we are filling the DS-260 online (IV application) and the part on FAMILY INFORMATION: SPOUSE, it asks for his address like this.
Spouse's address: (it gives me some options which are)
- Same as present address
- Same as intended U.S. address
- Don't know
- Other (specify address)
When I choose to put "other (specify address)", it asks for us to fill the address but there is an warning saying "P.O. box numbers are not allowed". (You guys will see on the image below). So we don't know what to do at this point. We are feeling really lost right now. What are we suppose to do?
OBS: Also our intended U.S. address (Where the applicant will go after arrival) that we answered back on the form is our friend's address because we don't have a place there YET. The thing is...my husband is done about his duty station there but his commander didn't answer him yet to get everything done and he moves. So right now he is in Germany waiting his commander answer if he will go or he will stay there for one more year (this confusion was cause between his old unit and the actual unit).
PLEASE! SOMEONE HELP ME!
Well, the thing is...present address is mine in Brazil...he lives in Germany...wouldn't be that different to the immigration? Also, on the I-864 he put his military address normally. :( I'm feeling really lost right now!
Hey all! Happy Easter to those who are celebrating!
I am just getting ready to send my AOS and IV packet and crossing my T's and dotting my I's; here are some questions I have:
1. Do I need to send US PP size photographs in the IV packet? I am seeing conflicting answers
2. I never got the "Welcome letter" or I got the wrong welcome letter so I never really got a "checklist" paper that I've seen other people use. I have both cover sheets though. Can I send it without that checklist and just include a coversheet or table of content of my own in both packets?
I'd really appreciate any input! Thanks in advance!
i did not send any photos and it is technically not on the checklist. I believe you can also download the checklist online somewhere. its the same for everyone.
Hi everyone--I have a question:
My joint sponsor & I prepared our I-864 forms at the end of February just to be prepared for when NVC was ready for those forms...and I just discovered they released a newer I-864 now that says expires 3/31/2020.
So, I'm redoing those forms.
My question is, am I allowed to fill out my joint sponsors I-864 and just have him sign it?
I just feel bad asking him to fill it out all over again, and he's a truck driver so he's rarely home/has limited free time...if he has to do it himself again we'll make it work, I just hate that they released a new form right after we filled out the previous one.
Thanks for any help
