exactly there are many ways to confirm my addresses. no I have never dealt with them, I even quit my job right after I received the denial notice before my EDA even expired just to make sure that am on the save side and not doing anything wrong.

And they identified themselves as ICE, did they provide badges or some sort of identification, not just wearing vest that say ICE?  I ask just in case someone was impersonating them, I just don't understand an address verification in person when you have not had any contact with them before and you have a pending petition.  Super odd.

I had forgotten to state in my post that I did have this address verification in NY, I live in Manhattan and it took them about a month to catch me at my apartment because I’m reach home like 7pm. They showed me a Department of Homeland Security badge. They ask for my ID to prove my address and they looked at it and left told me to have a good night. This happened in November 2017, my VAWA have an approval date of December 12, but I got the approval letter in early January.

@Peppermint my priority date is December 6th 2016 still nothing yet. 😣😣it' so frustrating. My prima face is up in March 6th 2018 and my EAD is up on the 26th of February. I sent in for renewal in November 20,2017 and still no update...

November 2016 here, still waiting for an update after they received my reply to their RFE last month. :clock:

I would like to know if anyone know anything about my situation or had similar experience

I left my husband while we were in process to adjust my status a month after our GC interview

couple months after I received a GC denial notice because my husband (the petitioner) withdrew my application.

I reached out to an advocacy agency and they told me about VAWA and offered to help

I filed for VAWA on aug2017 and received prima facia and nothing until yesterday when ICE officers came to where I live and told me that they were confused about my previous addresses and they just want to confirm they asked me to write it on paper and they left.

I read online that once adjustment of status applications(i485) are denied, the petitioner may be placed in removal proceedings, starting with a notice to appear(NOA) at an immigration court. The process can start some weeks, months or even up to a year after the denial.

You made a smart move by immediately filing for VAWA, that's why they (ICE) couldn't really do anything to you besides verifying your address.

Juju2521 did your abuse spouse withdraw your petition also?

He never came to the interview so I went alone with my attorney and handed him a copy of the I360 I filed and he ask if I want to hold the current i485 or file a new one. I told him for security purposes I will be filing a new one and he advised that I file and request expedited EAD to continue working. Said he will decline my old petition once New EAD was produced so I could keep my job.
