Ha Ha No, Funny though! My fiance's neighbor picked me up in his van.

In Manila I usually use Grab,  drive my motorcycle, or rent a car if we are going anywhere long distance.

I pretty much always rent a car.  Partially for safety.  Also because I love driving.  Used Grab this last time for part of the trip (got stuck due to hurricane Harvey) and it was so cheap!

Does an american need anything to drive there? Besides our licence?

I know theres an International drivers licence i needed for parts of Europe

 

My fiance is in Mabini, and easier if i drive there

Altho they are nuts lol

I love driving, too, but riding the motorcycle sure is a blast. Of course it's not for everybody. You have to be on your A-Game. I grew up on a motorcycle, dirt, street, racing, ATV off-road, you name it, I have done it. It's natural for me to really be paying attention to my surroundings on a motorcycle or ATV, but if you rarely ride then I would never recommend it for safety reasons.  Grab seemed to work great for me, though. Last time I rented a car they wanted to ding my return because the car was dirty and I didn't wash it off. I was like "it's pouring down rain, what good would it do to wash it?".

Just a valid state driving license is all. I have an international permit and can drive in over 200 countries, but I have never once been asked for it, in any country. Although, i have never driven in Europe.

Nothing required in Philippines.  Just passport and license in case pulled over.  Long as under 30 days at a time nothing required.

 

They are crazy there.  I adapt well though so no big deal to me.  You'll do just fine.  It's just slower, lol.

I drive ALOT for work (LA, phoenix, austin, vegas, chicago) and been a driver all my life, i can deal with it lol

Oh lol Tolls. just get to the atm and get some Pesos and you will be fine. Once you get out of Manila it's not bad. Just takes forever to get anywhere. 35 miles once took me 2.5 hours. Imagine L.A. traffic on a Friday after work and then add some.
