Hi All,

The NVC has had my complete document package for almost 4 weeks now, and I just logged on for the first time since submitting the docs so don't know what the status looked like immediatly after submittal verses now.

Please take a look at the images and let me know what you believe the status to be and if I can expect my Consular interview soon.

Thanks,

Ron.

Hello,

I am a CR1 filer for my husband and it took a little over 6 weeks for the NVC to review our documents. Hang in there! You can always call the customer service line and wait for a rep to inquire on the status, that's what I did in my fifth and sixth weeks to check in. We are currently in Namibia and about 7 hours ahead of Eastern Time (the time of the call center). So I made sure to call around 7:10am eastern time (2pm Namibian/Cape Town time) and I only had a 2-3 minute wait.

Thanks Cmondoy,

Would you mind sharing your dates, how long did it take for NVC to schedule an appointment at JHB after notice of Case Complete, when did you get your invitation letter to allow you to get your medical done, were you left to schedule the medical.

I need to get back to the US and start earning a living again.

I plan to fly up to Joburg from PE for 2 days for the medicals for my wife and I, and then again for the Interview - I also plan on calling the JHB consulate to see if I can get an earlier appointment once they receive the package from NVC.

It's a pleasure! And I completely understand! I can't wait to get back to the US to work as well, where there is actually a minimum wage at least.

Yes, of course. If you go to my page you can also see my complete timeline. We submitted our documents to the NVC September 14th and we did not hear anything from them at all. So that's why I called to check in around the 5th week and they asked to give them at least 6 weeks to review documents. We finally received Case Complete October 27th and then I called on November 10th and our interview was scheduled that day for December 20th.

So I would say on average, give them at least two weeks to schedule an appointment. I received the interview appointment email on November 11th in the early hours of the morning, Namibian time. So then we have scheduled our medical in Cape Town (we will be visiting family in CPT before heading to JHB).

Our documents will arrive this Friday and I will contact the embassy Monday morning to try and get an earlier interview.

I've been reading on here and I would recommend giving yourself a few days after the medical because I know someone in JHB just had to extend the medical for three days to do a sputum & smear. Apparently they will only do that if the x-ray shows abnormalities or if you have a history of TB/HIV. Staying hopeful that my husband's x-ray is clear and yours and your wife's as well!

I hope this helps!!

Thanks very much.

Best of luck to you and your hubby.

We spent the last 7 years in the US, and couldn't imagine living anywhere else.

BTW, I spent a year in Namibia, in Grootfontein and the Caprivi - love the place and the people.
