Why not scrap AOS through VWP or ESTA , B1/B2 since we all want fairness?

We all know that for VWP, all you have to do is to not have an" intent to immigrate". All other categories require you to show hardcore proof but others skate through because they did not say exactly that their gf or bf here wants them to come, marry and adjust.

How about we all join the long queue? If you come in with no intentions to stay then you should leave just like you intended despite marriage to a USC. You can return and start the process from your home country. That would be fair to everyone who wants to come here legally..#my2cents

1. AOS is lots of money for USCIS

2. AOS helps cut down on workload for US embassies.

IMO near term, H1b\H4 visa program is likely to get scrutiny from the Trump administration due to the prevalence of significant fraud.

I totally agree with the OP on this. Unfortunately, I don't think it's part of Trump's plan, though. We'll see but I doubt anything will be changed in B1/B2 policy since it's the bottom of the food chain, visa-wise. As you said, it seems like the goal is to take care of work visas and green cards first.

It might not be part of his plan but if we think it is a genuine concern we can echo that but writing letters to senators, congressmen etc

It's complicated than that. Can't just transfer workload over to embassies; consular staffing levels are regulated by bilateral treaties between nations.

Not to mention the turf wars between USCIS and State. AOS fees are a windfall to USCIS. Why would they let go of such a cash cow?

H1Bs need to be scrapped (or severely restricted to select positions). There is wholesale fraud in the H1\H4 program; overseas applicants and shady US employers often times are in on the fraud.

Those jobs ought to go to American workers.

So, denying people visas and encouraging adjustment of status is just a cash cow for the US. That's nice. I always suspected it was part of the reason it exists.

Anyone who has family members in "non-friendly" countries feels the frustration of the current system. It would be nice if it could change, but since it's all about money at the end of the day, I guess it won't. Still, I guess as the OP suggested we can try to make moves on it by contacting our local representatives, but if it really is just a "cash cow" for the US government, I doubt we will see any change. Still worth fighting for, however, so as soon as I'm back in the States I intend to do what I can to make some noise about it, even if it's futile.
