Hey,

We're in the process of preparing our I-751 package (Nov. filler) and we'd like to get your thoughts about the following list of evidences.

A bit of background: we moved to the US in Feb of 2015 and been living in the same place since then. Married for 3+ years now.

We really thought hard and have no additional means to show we are just a standard couple living their life :)

Taxes

  • Tax transcripts: 2013, 2014, 2015
  • IRS pay slips for 2015 and 2016 showing both names
  • CPA bills for tax prepartions showing both names

Household

  • Apartment lease for 2015 and 2016 showing both names
  • Monthly payments of rent, trash and utilities showing both names
  • Monthly electricity bills showing both names
  • Monthly mobile carrier bills showing both names

Finance

  • Monthly bank statements for our join checking and savings account
  • Monthly statements for our join brokerage account
  • 401(k) beneficiary forms with latest balance (both for wife and myself)
  • Monthly credit card statements
  • A voided check showing both of our names and bank account
  • Shared credit card (over 3 years)

Cars

  • Monthly statements from car insurance company showing both names
  • Car insurance cards showing both names
  • Car lease contract showing both names

Healthcare

  • Dental receipts showing both of our appointments
  • End of year IRS forms showing each other on his/her health insurance through employer
  • Health + dental insurance coverage for this year
  • Health + dental insurance claims

Other

  • Vacations we took in 2015 and 2016
  • Letters addressed to both of our names
  • Checks addressed to both of our names
  • Birthday cards from parents in-law and to each other
  • Official cat breeder form for our cat showing both names
  • Copy of driving licenses showing same address
  • Pictures from various events with family and friends

Any feedback is appreciated.

Pretty good list. The only things missing are wills and power of attorney or MPOA. :)

Thanks. Given our list of evidences, is there actually a possibility that we get an RFE because we don't have wills or MPOA?

Another unrelated question regarding joint bank accounts. When we first moved, we opened a bank account an got a credit card only under my name (I'm the resident).

The intention was to let me build my credit score and history and after few months combine the accounts. We are planning to add a small explanation letter regarding this. Does anybody foresee a problem with this?

Thanks!

No i dont see wills or mpoa being asked for. Its fine to have your own bank accounts if you have a joint account with lots of activity as well. I have my own account and we do not have a joint credit card. However we own a home together.

I have a question regarding the credit cards:

My spouse is a primary credit account holder, I am an authorized user. we have credit cards with the same card numbers on it, as for the statements it does not show my name, shows only my spouse's name who is a main holder of the account. The bank says they stopped showing an authorized user's name, so my question is in this case do you think I still need to send monthly statements (which will not show my name) or just copy of credit cards is enough?

thank you guys

We were exactly in that situation. I was the primary CC holder. My spouse was an authorized user in the beginning. Then we called the bank (Bank of America) and asked them to include her name as a co-account holder. The bank needed to speak to both of us together and get our permissions. So now we are both jointly responsible for the BOA credit card with both our names on the statements.

Same here. I'm also an authorized user on my wife's credit card.

This is our main credit card, so all purchases for the house, trips, food etc. are on this card.

What we did is gave monthly statements and asked the bank to print a letter saying that I'm an authorized user on the credit card since 2013.

I don't know if it matters to them, but in our case, I've been an authorized users before we got married.

Hope this helps.
