Our status changed to this today. Does this mean our approval is not official yet? Can anyone shed some light?

"On September 18, 2016, we certified the approval of your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, Receipt Number MSCxxxxxxxxxx, and sent it to the appropriate appellate office. That office will send you a final decision. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address."

I do not know what is involved with your case but from what I am reading about certification and appellate offices, it sounds like it may be complex. Thanks for the info. Can someone who has been through this tell me their experiences and how long does it typically take for the final decision?

We talked to tier 2 today and asked when our case was transferred to the AAO office. She put us on hold for a few minutes and said the update she sees is the case was approved and we should get the card within 4 weeks. I asked about it saying it's "sent to the appropriate appellate office" and she seemed confused by this info and said the card is in production and we should get it within 4 weeks. I'm not sure where we're at.

Update: This was the approval. Greencard was issued on Sept 17, 2016. Doing the removal of conditions now.
