Fedex delivered my package last Thursday and they cashed my check today.

My case was received on aug 18th 2016 and I gave my biometrics around October ....still haven't heard from them ....my 1 year extension expires early October ....any folks in similar situation ? Something to panic ?

i  apply on 7/29/2016 my noa was 08/01/2016 and biometric on 08/30/2016 and still nothing. when is your green card expiration date?

No, no need to panic... you may get frustrated, especially if you filed at CSC (California Service Center). VSC (Vermont Service Center) is clicking along and probably will be approving August filers either this month or next, but all bets are off on CSC, which seems to have slowed to an almost imperceptible crawl. We have no idea when they will get to our applications.

 

Your status is safe either way. If September rolls around and you haven't gotten your approval yet, go ahead and make an InfoPass appointment at your local USCIS office and get a stamp in your passport to use as proof of status, if you need it. You don't have to do that unless you need proof of status for travel, to extend a driver's license etc, since your status doesn't change. But my personal theory is that the more people go into their local offices to do that, (ie the more of a "squeaky wheel" we ROC people are) the more likely that USCIS will start paying attention to our cases. I have absolutely zero evidence of this but I think it's worth a try. 

 

Anyway, try to stay calm, you're not alone, we're all (almost all, anyway) waiting too!

This whole CSC debacle has to end at some point, otherwise, it will just get further and further behind. They seem to have stuck in last June with few approvals. Hopefully there is a deadline for the CSC adjudicators. If there were to have some movement, it would have to be now starting with mid to late June filers. Let's see what the update says. It would be considered huge if we started to see some movement even if it were just a week of movement. Unless the new CSC norm is approving 400 and 751 concurrently, that might mean they are giving 751 applicants no choice but applying 400 ASAP so they can approve 751. Maybe it is a strategy for USCIS to generate profits by forcing 751 applicants to apply 400. Of course, that is my conspiracy theory derived from my frustrations..

Well, there's an update today and they're saying that as of May 31, CSC was working on June 15th. So not quite a week, but pretty close! At least it opens up the possibility of filing a service request for quite a large number of June filers on VisaJourney, so that's good! Of course, the problem is that there isn't a deadline for I-751s. People like H1B visa holders whose extensions are taking over 240 days lose not just the ability to travel and return to the US, but also, after 240 days (even if they've filed everything correctly and on time) they lose their work authorization (which is the whole point of an H1B "work" visa)! 

While I'm just as frustrated with the long waits as the next person, I'm certainly glad that my ability to travel, work, etc isn't affected, no matter how long CSC winds up taking.

My expectations were so low that this new update today actually gives me a bit hope. Yeah, now at least it has moved since last month for nearly a week, so we can only hope CSC has opened up a little bit. I think we may get our approvals sometimes in October or November. I am going to get my passport stamped this coming Monday, and yes, at least we are still permanent residents except we are conditional until they approve our applications. Let's hope and continue to be patient I guess. So not a bad news today in terms of processing time updates.

We have a new processing times update today. Now they are processing June 15th from last year, so it has moved nearly a week worth of loads since last update. At least it is moving, I guess it is not bad news.

Funny how we (CSC) have been conditioned with such low expectations for so many months that less than a week's progress since the last monthly update is relatively good news to us now!!

My friend (Canadian married to his American spouse) has sent his I-130 application in Dec, 2016 from Canada.    I guess there is a huge backlog now (again) and it takes 1.5 years to get the visa!    He thinks he'll probably get the visa in May, 2018!  

 

Maybe USCIS has been busy (because fewer people are working?) so it's taking more time to process every application?

Other types of applications seem to be going normal. I had to apply for 601 waiver and i was approved in 6 months, so every application is different. Maybe this one week progress is a good sign for things to come for August or July filers.
