4 suspects at large after attempted assassination of NYPD cops in Brooklyn

Several shots have been fired at police officers in Brooklyn from a car that fled the scene of the shooting during which no one was hurt. An active search for the four suspects is underway.

Police have instituted a Level 1 Mobilization after NYPD officers were attacked on Flatbush Avenue and Ditmas Avenue in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn at about 10:40pm

According to Sergeants Benevolent Association, which promotes the welfare of New York’s finest, two uniformed officers were shot at after suspects in a “dark colored sedan with tinted windows slowly approached them, then made a statement about ‘getting’ them and proceeded to fire shots.” The association said that the car had four “male blacks” inside.

Shortly after the shooting, the Sergeants Benevolent Association said on the union's Facebook page that the shooters approached the officers in the vehicle and made a statement "about getting them" before shots were fired.

The statement was issued prematurely, the NYPD spokesman said, and further investigation indicated that the officers were not targeted in the shooting. The shots were likely aimed at nearby rivals, he said.
