 Its so disheartening when someone who has a scan date after your scan date gets a case complete before you. I am happy for you guys, but sad at the same time. None of us want to be away from our loves ones.

hey! i'm there with you!!! Our time will come, lets be strong and hopeful and fight til the end! I'm doing everything possible to get that case complete, just finished contacting my congressman who's willing to help with my case, so im hopeful

So I have been researching on the posts for the Philippines but can't find anything -_-. Does anyone know if a Philippine NSO birth certificate or NSO marriage certificate expire? and what does it mean by petitioner documents?

Thank you in advance!

Thanks LinJoe. I am an Indian by birth but an Australian citizen (moved here when I was 5 y/o), hence the consulate of Australia. SYD seems to have both email and mail processing. So do I have to call NVC and tell them I want to send docs via email or would it ask on the DS-260 form?

When your IV bill status shows "Paid" then your DS-260 will unlock. you can complete and submit it anytime after. your profile pictures shows the American and Indian flags, but your consulate is Australia? I know India doesn't allow online submissions. I'm not sure about Australia. check this link. https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/Submit_documents.html

If your case number begins with one of the prefixes listed on that page, then you can submit online. you just have to follow the process for that. if it's not listed on there then you have to physically mail it in. best to use a courier services so you can track where your sensitive documents are.

When it says AOS package recived, what does that mean. Is that the pdf files recieved in the email when we got our case number or is that something the NVC will sent in the mail?

I am not sure what you mean by "it says AOS package received". Based on the NVC site (https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/), AOS is Affadavit of Support, and that column will show N/A even the NVC received AOS documents.

If you called the NVC and they told you that they received your AOS package then you should know what is going on.

AOS is something you "send" to the NVC, not that they send to you. You have to prove that you have enough money financially to support the IV applicant (the one who you want to bring to the U.S to live with you).

DO NOT send an incomplete AOS/IV package to NVC. It can hold your case up for an extra month or more. Just wait until you have it and then send the complete package.

My Convoluted Story (see my profile for more details)
Jun 2009 - Met on Facebook
Mar 2010 - Visited Morocco for the first time, got engaged
Dec 30, 2011 - Wedding in Morocco (5th visit)
I-130/CR-1 (first time around)
31 Aug 2012 - Priority Date (Vermont, transferred to NBC)
31 Dec 2012 - NOA2
27Jul 2013 - Broke up/Separation (while waiting for case complete at NVC)
9 Jan 2014 - Filed for divorce in US (never completed)
4 Apr 2014 - USCIS NOIR
May 2015 - Reconciliation
Nov 2015 - Vacation together in Spain (7th in-person visit with each other)
I-130/IR-1 (second time around)
4 Feb 2016 - Priority Date
19 Apr 2016 - NOA2

17 May 2016 - NVC Case Number Assigned

31 May 2016 - Sent AOS/IV package to NVC

5 Jul 2016 - NVC Case Complete

10 Aug 2016 - Medical Exam

25 Aug 2016 - Interview - APPROVED

1 Sep 2016 - Husband picked up his visa

Husband POE'd @ IAD - 5 November

You can send in AOS and IV package without the police certificate, however that is going to generate a checklist for sure. Each time you send something to the NVC, it will takes about 30 days to process (although I have been over 30 days mark on mine and I havent received a response from the NVC yet. I called NVC and they said it can take up to 6 weeks - 42 days now).

To play with the time, I think it is best to wait for your police certificate and send all in at the same time. You want it to be good in 1 package. Sending in multiple time can cause false checklist also. Now is June 16th, On Jun 27th you will have your police certificate and that is just 11 days. In waiting for 11 days to have a complete package to send to NVC is better than gain 11 days but with multiple packages. Moreover, each time you send in your documents, it most likely will be different NVC officers reviewing your documents; so in order to get the thought flow through smoothly, I will rather have 1 officer review the complete package at 1 time. Try to avoid checklist as much as you can.

Just my honest opinion. Good luck.

TrauCon

Thanks, we'll just wait the extra week vs. hold it up for that long. Thanks a lot.

I am slowly gathering our documents for the IV and AOS packets and are planning to send it out next week.

In the IV packet we need to include the marriage certificate we already have in the I130 packet. So is the copy of the translation ok since the original translation we sent with the I130? Or we need the get a original translation again?

About the birth certificate for my husband can it be international version or does it have to be Bosnian and then translation.

No, you don't have to call NVC about how you're going to submit and it won't ask on the DS-260 either. The DS-260 is submitted online anyway.

You should follow their instructions on how to email (link to their FAQ's below). There are file size limitations so just follow that. Once you decide to file electronically, anything going forward will need to be filed electronically.

Honestly, NVC is not going to send you much. The info that you really need to know from the NVC are: Case number, Invoice Number, Checklist (if you get one), Barcode Coversheet (you can get it online also).

The thing that beneficial to do is to add your email to the case. You can call NVC up and do it if you haven't.
