Hello

My fiancee and I received our letter from the NVC saying that they had fwd'd our petition to the Kingston, Jamaica embassy where she will be interviewed. The letter is dated May 10 2016.

The letter says to wait for the Embassy in KNG to reach out to her/me/us to schedule an interview date and that THE TRANSFER PROCESS CAN TAKE SEVERAL WEEKS--- however---

On May 16 I called the NVC (because I needed to change my fiancee's mailing address in Jamaica)-- after updating I started asking general questions about what's next and was told:

  • I had new "Invoice ID" and "Beneficiary ID" numbers, both of which I wrote down
  • that NVC sent packet to KNG on May 9th
  • The phone-rep said I should email KNG and tell them about the address change just in case, and ask if they had received the packet...
  • Was told to email my questions about documents required at the interview (specifically if she needs to see a specific doctor for the med exam and is there a government form that needs filling out my doctor)

So, same date, I sent an email asking about these things and got a response saying:

Dear "Madam:"

You need to follow the first instructions you received in this process. You will have to go online and scheduled a new fiancé visa appointment. At that time, you will be allowed to pay the new application fee. Below is a copy of the instructions:

K-1 (Fiancé(e)) Visa Appointment Checklist

***???Please obtain all of the documents requested before the date of your interview.???*** Failure to do so will result in delayed processing of your application.

Step 1—Complete the DS-160.

The DS-160 Form is available online at http://redirect.state.sbu/?url=https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/. The system will automatically generate a confirmation number after you submit the form.

Step 2—Register online, pay the fee, and schedule your interview.

Please go to http://redirect.state.sbu/?url=http://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-jm/iv, click “Register,” and follow the on-screen instructions. After you pay the USD $265 fee online, you will be able to schedule your interview.

If you need help registering, please call (876) 632-7400 from Jamaica, or (703) 439-2360 from the U.S.

-------

SOOO--- my fiancee used her computer to do the DS-160, submitted it last night. Got the confirmation number which I then used to create an account at the site they mentioned (the GREEN SITE). I paid the fee and signed up with DHL using her address in JA and her contact info.

NOW it wants ME to make the interview appointment??? WHAT ABOUT ALL THE UNANSWERED QUESTIONS/KNG-SPECIFIC ISSUES OF WHICH WE KNOW NOTHING? WHAT ABOUT THEM TELLING US WHEN THE INTERVIEW IS?

Obviously we want to make this appointment ASAP:

We have additional evidence of our relationship, completed the Affidavit of Support forms, she has her complete copy of our I-129f packet, and is soon to have all the NOAs and the like...

Can anyone provide some explanation here? We would feel a lot better about things... WAIT FOR THEM TO CATCH UP WITH US? MOVE FORWARD AND DON'T LOOK BACK?

Thanks!!

Ben and Ven

All of those documents, relationship evidence, and forms are taken to the embassy at your interview. In Kingston you do not send them into the embassy.

http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide

Read the guide under section what to send your fiancé once year I won 20 9F is approved ". These are the documents you must prepare to send to your fiancé for the interview .

Go online and complete the DS160.

After going online paying the visa fee and scheduling your appointment you are to email the embassy you are to email the embassy a copy of the bio page of your passport with the barcode information from the confirmation receipt, Like it says in the letter you received.

They are caught up with you you have your case number from NVC it should start out with KNG so follow the steps in the letter that the embassy sent you. 1 & 2

Hi guys!!! I have a similae situation. The embassy in Peru received our case on April 29. They sent us an electronic version of the requirements and how to proceed to schedule the interview on usavisa-info.com. I have been waititng for almost threee weeks for the letters to go.to my mailing address and until today...nothing. I also thought the embassy would schedule our interview date. Last night i completed the DS160 and tried to schedule the interview but when i reached the part of "payment", next to the $265 dollars there was a box saying "the next available date is may 25" and there were no more options, only "continue" and the other step was "schedule appointment".

I closed the window because obviously May 25 is too soon for us. My fiance will be here in Lima in July 22 and we don't want the interview before that date. Any advice? Will the calendar with more dates appear in the "schedule appointment" step or that date i saw in "payment" step is the only.one? Or it was already scheduled by the embasssy? OMG i'm so confused!!!

Please help :(

You should really start your own topic so that it can be directed to the appropriate country portal. The process from here on is really country specific.

This update has been discussed in the UK Regional Forum. It is good to see it is happening across the board. Due to recent updates of going digital (a huge movement here in the US) they seem to be allowing people to schedule their own interviews as of May 3rd for K-1 and DCF Filers. Follow the instructions on the email and do not stress. Make sure to print out a confirmation page from when you schedule your interview. It doesn't seem like letters will be going out anymore in order to help streamline the process (this is just a guess though).

We are all still feeling out the new process and the first interviews scheduled in London with this process are all in June so hopefully more clear information can be provided then.

Just wanted to update this thread. As KAT&JON explained-- there is a transition to digital but obviously it's happening at a different pace and with different protocols everywhere.

In JAMAICA (and likely most embassies)-- once you receive notice from the NVC that they have sent your packet to the Embassy, the Embassy itself will likely have received it but may not have processed it... This is okay though-- they will eventually email you confirmation of arrival/appointment instructions AND mail the same thing to the address you provided on the I-129f. Or if you want to expedite this process...

just shoot the embassy a short email asking for the instructions and provide your case number, relevant info. They will email you the same instructions you will get in the mail-- however the appointment checklist they emailed was for travel visas and says complete a DS-260 instead of DS-160... don't worry though-- everything else is the same and in our case, they eventually sent us another email automatically with the correct checklist. A couple weeks after this happened, we did get a version of the instructions via snail-mail (which had the incorrect checklist yet again actually ;))...

ONCE YOU HAVE THE EMBASSY INSTRUCTIONS-- go to the "GREEN WEBSITE" as I've been calling it -- https://ais.usvisa-info.com -- UNDERSTAND THAT A BIT CONTRARY TO HOW THE EMBASSY PUTS IT, THIS SITE HANDLES "REGISTRATION, APPOINTMENT FEE PAYMENT, DHL, ONLINE DS-160 FORM, AND INTERVIEW SCHEDULING ALL TOGETHER!!

Have the applicant complete the DS-160 and pay the appointment fee with a credit card (It can be the petitioners card), as well as signup with DHL... you will get your DS-160 confirmation which must be printed out (make some copies). BOOKMARK THE WEBSITE because you will need to come back to schedule your interview and print out your APPOINTMENT LETTER. You CAN INDEED SCHEDULE THE INTERVIEW ONCE YOU COMPLETE THE DS-160 OR WAIT UNTIL YOU HAVE EVERYTHING REQUIRED FOR THE INTERVIEW and MEDICAL EXAM (in Jamaica at least you must present the appointment letter at the medical exam showing you have a specific appointment date).

We waited to schedule the interview until after we paid for the Police Certificate and No-Impediment to Marriage and knew when we could pick them up. We also called the Hospital and asked how quickly we could get in and do the medical exam. In our case (JAMAICA), we gave ourselves three weeks which worked great.. The Hospital ended up scheduling our exam just 7-days from the interview date which was a little unnerving because they say to do it at least ten days before. However this was the date the hospital gave us after telling them when the IV was.

Now the work really started for us-- with me having better access to printing I gathered the majority of the documents noted on the Checklist (and VisaJourney checklist)... for us it was I-134s (one from me and one from a cosponsor just in case), originals and copies of all the NOAs, evidence of ongoing relationship (a few colour photographs printed at Walgreens, copies of Western Union receipts, screenshots from Skype and WhatsApp, and copies of emails between us sent since filing the the I-129f). Everything was placed into different manilla envelopes and labeled on the front so it would be easy for my fiancé to know where everything was during the IV. One was empty and to contain the Police Cert./No-impediment/Medical stuff. These were ready to pickup the day after the package was received in Jamaica (sent Fedex 2-day). Want to say also that I included copies of EVERYTHING in another envelope (along with non-required documents that maybe they'd ask for) just in case something was misplaced or needed for some reason.

Medical exam was completed on the 7th and fiance was not given any documentation just a payment receipt-- in the case of St. Andrews Memorial Hospital, they mailed the results of her exam directly to the Embassy.

Our appointment was this morning (June 14, 2016) and our K1 was approved!! I only have early reports from her, but apparently it was very easy and straight forward. No trick questions or other garbage. I know they asked about my work and if she had met my parents which she has. They asked where she would be living and from what i understand that was all! Case officer wished her the best and SAID HER VISA/PASSPORT WOULD ARRIVE VIA MAIL IN TWO WEEKS! I will be reposting this in another thread along with more details from the interview.

Want to thank everyone at VJ for their help and I hope this post will serve some people who are in the same spot... Special thanks to Dame & Ash for answering our questions and to Kat&Jon for putting my mind at ease about the whole digital transition they are doing with Visas. Many thanks to all andI wish you the best.
