Hello everyone, thank you all for your support and prayers. My wife's cr1 visa was approved yesterday at the U.S Embassy in Ghana after 8 months of AP. My wife went for her interview on July 08, 2015 and was given 221g AP. Co said she was reviewing documents she will call after she's done but never called for over 8months. I got my congressman involved, did info pass but still didn't change anything. So I decided to go to Ghana myself. I went to the embassy at 1200 noon, we started going in at 1:00 pm. The security men said we cannot go in with bags anymore so we left them outside. The security men again told me I cannot go inside with my wife, I didn't argue or ask any questions I quietly joined the que behind my wife and went inside with her. Fortunately for us, The CO who was handling our case was at the counter at window three. She called my wife, I followed her to the window. As soon as she saw me she said oo wow so you came with her today and I said yes. She knows I'm in the military ( U.S. Navy ) so she asked where are you stationed? I answered, then she said wow so you are in the Washington DC area, I said yes.She asked my wife to excuse us so she can ask me some questions. The first thing she said is Mr. xxx we have a little problem here at this embassy that's why your case has been delayed. She said almost every DV lottery spouse from Ghana come back divorced and get married again so it makes us sense something fishy. I said wow that can be true but there are genuine cases or divorces. Co asked, when was your previous marriage? I answered. She asked when did I immigrate to the states, I answered. She asked when I join the military, I answered that too. She asked where my previous wife is and I answered. She also asked how are things going with your current wife? I said great. She asked how do you support your wife financially? I answered that too. She asked who arranged the marriage, I told her my parents did. She asked, is there any little xxx on the way? Meaning are we expecting any baby, I said that's what I'm hoping. She said well mr. xxxx we will go ahead and issue your wife's visa today you can call her back to the window. I just need an updated police and medical report because it's been a long time since the first interview. She you can bring it anytime from 1:00 pm going, Monday to Thursday. We brought it the third day, and she was like that was quick I said yes I can't wait to go back with her. She asked me when are you going back? I told her and she said come back the third day for your visa. When we left the place, my wife was like really, I never thought this lady was this nice, she never smiled when I went to the interview by myself. Thanks once again guys. But one thing Your presence counts a lot, I mean you the PETITIONER. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE.

Congrats my dear but did they kept your passport since 8 months or they collected your passport the day you appeared at the embassy as a petitioner?

I think you are asking about the applicant which is my wife. No they collected everything but her passport. She had her passport throughout the 8 months. The passport was collected after the approval. I hope I have answered your question well.

Congrats!!

When did you go back to the embassy with your wife? Because I learnt petitioners aren't allowed in the embassy with the beneficiary anymore.

Can you verify that for us?

You mean the day you accompanied her to the embassy or was it the first day she went alone to the embassy for the first interview and secondly how did you went to the embassy with her since there is no call interview for her for the moment?

At Icezman_Icezlady; sorry I'm using a cell phone so I'm not able to reply directly to your message. I went to the embassy on the 13th of April that was last week. And if you read my post well, I stated in there that the security men at the gate told me I can't go inside with her but I didn't argue or ask any question. I just joined the que behind my wife and nobody asked me any question so I went inside. We went to the embassy three times before she got it and throughout the three times, I was told I can't go inside with her but I ignored them and joined the que all three times I was able to go inside with her.

At Norishing2007; sorry I'm using a cell phone so I'm not able to reply directly to your message: They gave her passport back to her the first day she went to the interview by herself. So she had her passport with her at home throughout the 8 months. She went with the passport the day we went together. The embassy didn't take her passport until I went there with her. About going there without interview, she was given a paper with her name on it after the first interview which states that the co is reviewing the documents she will call when she's done. Since it doesn't have any date on it, I just decided to try my luck to go there with her to see and luckily we were fortunate to get approved. Sometimes they just dump the documents and forget about them.
