Entered, now under review?

Not sure what's going on or if this is the right place.

I entered the US with my cr-1 on June 6 2015. I received my green card a couple months later. We've been living pretty happily. I found a job easily and just closed on our first house! Everything has been going great!

Today we got an email saying that the department of state has asked USCIS to review our case and we're now under review. My wife is calling in a bit to see if we can get more info because we're both at work and can't sit on hold right now.

Is this normal? I've never heard of this before.

That is really strange, as it is way too close for ROC and it doesn't sound like you had a weird case or any red flags. My guess is there is someone with the same name as you going through the process now.

My name is very unusual. Both my birth and married surnames have less than a thousand users world wide - - my birth one is closer to 100. I'm pretty freaked out right now. Info pass is two weeks out. We are currently feuding with my mother in law, so we're a little worried she's complained to ICE or something because she's totally convinced that the only reason a foreign woman would marry her daughter is for the green card and she's brought it up a dozen times.

I also wouldn't worry about this. She cannot undo your immigration. Maybe they moved your file or something. I have heard of others getting this message when the file goes to storage or something. Do some searches here.

Wow, I understand you're worried and freaking a little. I would be too. I've never heard anything like that before, and almost a year later too, scary. ? I don't think there's anything you can do but wait for the Infopass though. I hope it works out and that it's nothing.

Note: Just commenting on what OUR situation was according to the call we had with USCIS. We got the text this morning and the status you reference shows on the USCIS site, however, after being escalated to a second tier of handlers, and waiting on hold for a few minutes, he confirmed that we received the messages and the "update" in error as there was no duplicates or the like. This assurance included reference to the verbiage on the USCIS site when he said that they "hadn't received any case from state" relating to us.

I am NOT suggesting that anyone ignore it, but it looks like they might have had an issue with the systems that impacted some of us.

(Side note, NO ONE has the same name as I, and my husbands name is quite unusual as well, so duplicate couple was not very likely.)

I also received the same notice today from USCIS. Odd. My husband entered the U.S. six weeks ago and his green card arrived in the mail last Thursday. I think it must be a glitch.

Anyone receive any updates regarding this? I just tried calling the number they provided in the email (The National Customer Service Center (1-800-375-5283)), had the trickiest time finding the appropriate "service line" to help me, and then had one of the customer service reps say that I need to go to contact the state government travel department regarding my visa? Also, when I tried putting my receipt number in the help line it wouldn't work for some reason.

Anyone else run into this problem?

Hilarious! I'm in the same boat as you, sort of.

I'm leaving Canada, to move to the US with my wife.

I have a GREAT job here, a house, family, etc.

Not to mention free health care.

Guess your MIL doesn't realize that when a Canadian moves to the US, it's typically not for the benefits of getting a GC.

We typically move to be with the one we love. (as is the case with every other person here)

I'm preparing to move now, and would like to keep this one in the back of my mind....for when I get to Utah.
