I consider myself pro life but not an abortion is murder pro lifer. Women are going to make their choices legal or not. If abortion becomes illegal, do they not see taxes, food stamps and welfare possibly going up too?

Pro-life for you? For everyone ? Would you like to see it become illegal? Or just keep it the way it is?

I don't like abortion but I don't see it as my business of someone else has one

So you kind of also support the right to choose?

i don't know anyone that likes abortion but forcing a woman to carry a baby to term against her will surely is government intrusion.

I think it is between a woman and her doctor.

Plus, we have to remember why it became legal in the first place. I'm currently in a country where it is not legal and I've heard many stories about women dying having abortions on motel rooms.

I think we need to make it a rare thing by passing out free birth control, etc.

I really think the Donald is OK with the right to choose also but he will say what ever he has to get votes. Didn't he day on the past that he was pro choice?

Well, that certainly is the pro-choice position. However, transborderwife says she is pro-life.

I only really agree in certain situations (incest, rape, Mental distress, health of the mother) but if a woman wants one I won't judge her

Ok. That is fine, however I find it hard to believe that pro-lifer groups and or anti-abortionists have the same viewpoint. IMO you are in the pro-choice camp.

And that's the thing is there's a lot who believe it's never N option. That just isn't me. I believe that carrying to term and adoption should in most cases be the first choice.

That's kind of how I feel about it too. I do not believe abortion should be used as a form of birth control. Making it illegal(especially the first 20 weeks which give plenty of time to make a decision) is obviously not the best route to take for several reasons, but if you got pregnant because you were too dumb to think things through, the taxpayers should not pay your bill. If it is the reasons mentioned above that is a different story. However, I do think that after 20 weeks it is murder and should not be allowed, again with certain exceptions like health of the mother.

People who whine about this being nothing more than a women's health issue only do so because they see the fetus as nothing but a lump of useless flesh until it pops through the birth canal. Those who see the fetus as a small human, a legitimate person, don't see it that way and never can.

The issue is where you define a lump of flesh transforming into a human being. Until two sides agree on that they cannot agree on the morality of abortion.

The rape issue is a funny one, though; you might be against abortion unless it's rape. Implicit in this is that a baby born of rape is less than a human being born of consent. It's a fairly disgusting hypocrisy, but an exceptionally common one. Much of this relies upon applying a fraction to a fetus as to how much human being it really is. Most people's views on abortion are highly inconsistent and not thought out. If a fetus is not a human in a meaningful way, abortion for any reason should be no more amoral than cutting off a fingernail. If it is a human, it is a human. How it became one is immaterial.

Good luck!

I never heard of any pro choice advocate say it is or should be a form of birth control. Ofcourse not. It should only be a last resort and I am sure most women that go through it take it very seriously.

I have no idea why you mentioned tax payers. Taxes do not go towards abortions at all.

I agree about a certain time frame too.

I disagree. Nobody should be forced to keep a baby from someone whom they clearly didn't want one. On the flip side, I don't believe taxpayers should cover it if it is any more than birth control to them(i.e. I'm a dumb teen who didn't use protection and got pregnant, or wanted to get pregnant and then changed my mind etc), but I don't believe in banning it, either, unless its past the 20th week. Only about 2% of abortions are done after that time anyway. A baby after that time, to me, is a human being. However if the health of the mother is at stake that should be an exception. Overall I think I have a pretty well thought out opinion on it(unlike Trump lol) when it should be allowed, when not and who should pay for it.

While morally I don't think the taxpayers should under the circumstances I mentioned, practically it is going to be impossible to tell the difference as it is not all that uncommon to get pregnant even using precautions.

wow, just wow.

Who whines about an abortion being a health issue? It is about a woman choosing to do what she wants with her body. Who are you to decide? Another small government right winger wanting the government to tell a women she has to have a baby she does not want?

And yep, personally I do not believe a fetus is a person until it at least has a developed brain and at that point at least in my opinion things change and abortion should only be allowed for the health of the mother.

Ofcourse if a woman is impregnated against her will she should be able to legally get an abortion! You want to force a women to carry a baby from a rapist? What then? Should she raise it or should the government raise it? I am sure you are all for funding that..

How about making birth control readily available and even free to make abortions a very rare thing? I believe a woman should be able to choose up to a point during her pregnancy but with that said, I hate abortion and would like to see it never happen.

Where do tax payers cover abortion? If the women is poor than more than likely tax payers will pay to feed and house the baby which I believe is the right thing to do.

I believe most women that get an abortion see it as a very traumatic experience. There are some people here who seem to think they just pop into the clinic for an abortion rather than using protection..

They may not say it but some of them have absolutely no problem with abortions even under the circumstances I mentioned. I do.

The reason I mentioned it is because some people, like Obama, want to repeal the Hyde Amendment(the ACLU is of course calling to repeal it too). Even with the amendment, taxpayers fund about 24% of abortions. There are also still 17 states that fund abortions on the same or similar terms as other pregnancy related and general health services. 4 of them voluntarily, but in 13 of them(VT included) courts interpreting their states constitutions declared broad and independent protection for reproductive choice and have ordered nondiscriminatory public funding of abortion.
