Haha thanks for setting this up!

I saw there is already a nabraska post out there but it does date back many years and is scary with old timeframes. I like this new one better.

Ps: I've seen several reports of November filers hearing back from Nebraska already ... Hopefully this means they're speeding up!

Yes, I'm Actually planning to do that. I've learned you have to get an ITIN for your spouse. You can also file for an extension to submit your taxes for up to 6 months so long as you dont have to pay in to IRS.

https://www.irs.gov/Individuals/General-ITIN-Information

https://www.irs.gov/uac/About-Form-4868

Also, I have very happy news, on April 12, 2016 we received the approval from Nebraska, a total miracle of God! I requested an expedite of the process due to our circumstances (you have to qualify for the expedite, and there are specific requirements), and though I never heard if they approved to expedite, by God's grace instead on Tuesday we got news that his visa application was approved. All glory to Jesus Christ, now onto the next step. Be encouraged, God can do something beyond the norm as we put our trust in Him!

So excited for you!! God is indeed great! Be blessed in your exciting new journey ?

Thank you so much! I also wanted to share with you all an app that you can download on a smart phone to get instant notifications as things change on the USCIS website. I've found it to be alerting me real time as status and details change/progress! I'd recommend it to everyone!

"USCIS Case Status notifier" in google play store. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spinachsoftware.immigration.uscis.casestatus

God bless everyone on this journey of patience and resilient hope.

It's called USCIS Case Helper (USCIS HELPER is the actual icon title) for us iPhone users too if anyone is in the same boat as me. It's an icon with 3 stars and a few stripes, by "spinach mobile".
From my experience it won't work until your case is online on uscis which I'm still waiting on ... I was 24th March NOA.

oops I just emailed you before i saw this. But I'll comment so others know.

It's just in your "signature" section when you go to edit your profile. Find one you like from someone else, copy and paste it, and edit your details to your own :-)

I had the whole entire timeline before but found it was a lot of info cramming the forum feed, so I have it saved in a word document and will just add it line by line as I go...

Just FYI, anyone looking to file taxes as "Married Filing Joint" needs their foreign spouse's original signature. No photocopy.

What I did was to file with Turbo tax then opted to print and mail but the 2nd page had to be electronically sent to my husband. He signed the tax form and the W-7 form for TIN and mailed them to me.

I put it together, signed and mailed them in a certified mail.

If you will file an extension, you need to do so before the cut off time on Monday (April 18th)..Luckily, this year's date was moved 3 days forward.

You spouse might need to sign that form,I'm not sure about that but, look into it before Monday.

or if you are running against time, file as "Married Filing Separately" then amend later when you have your spouse's signature on the the 1040 and W-7.

Good luck!

Nebraska actually appears to be speeding up. It's not california speed but still much better than Texas etc. Some i-130's from December are currently being approved so that's a good sign.
