you are not risking anything Frank, this is a choice that you can safely make. Check the it's website. This is safe and legal!

Yeah, I agree with picobenz. I think we are exaggerating the importance of filling as MFS in this process. If you can qualify for the head of household, then you should do that. This will save you more money and even IRS will recommend that. And then when your spouse come to US, amend it MFJ, and save even more.

I filed as head of household because i claimed my daughter. I specifically asked the lady that was doing my tax and she told me that it would not be an issue at all. She had dealt with cases like mine before and it was never an issue. I will amend to MFJ when my hisband gets here.

Some updates:

My husband did his medical today and they told him to come back on March 17 to get the sealed envelope. I also called NVC rhe other day to check if my documents has been shipped to the embassy in Haiti yet and they told me either the end of this week or next week. When it gets to the embassy i am going to try to get an earlier interview date. My current interview date is April 26.

Good luck everyone

My husbands interview is in 2 weeks from today and this is what our document organization looks like, plus a professional wedding photo album and 180 additional pictures. It is insane the amount of paperwork we have lol. But I rather be overloaded then not have enough stuff. :)

Wow we should dance polka with that accordion.
