Can someone shed some light on this???

My tax lady filed me as single even though i told her I was marrief. She said once my husband is here we can amend it anr change it. I trusted she knew what she was talkiny about but reading through forums...it seems she was wrong.

Should I amend it and put married filing seperately?

Does it take long??? Our interview is April 19th

February 4th- case complete.

February 24th- Interview scheduled for April 19th

You won't need anything from 2015 technically because your interview date is before the 18th. Make sure you have everything for 2014. If they get 2015 W2s before your interview, which they should, I would take them with you for back up. This is how my email from Montreal explained it.

In reference to your immigrant visa case, in addition to the all the items listed on the checklist, you need to bring the following on the day of the interview:

- Two recent passport size photographs on white background

- Medical exam as instructed on your appointment letter

- Photocopy of your petitioners U.S. 2015 and/or 2014 tax return

- Photocopy of your petitioners 2015 and/or 2014 W2s

We thank you for your cooperation.

Thank you so much for the information Gobucks. I will definitely get at LEAST the W2s just to solidify their income (:

quick question

I got the interview letter and interview date is April 14th. I did schedule my medical date for April 1st. when I was reading instruction for Mumbai Consulate - I read something interesting which I posted below.

Visit http://www.ustraveldocs.com, follow the instructions to create an account, log in, and schedule an appointment to have your photograph and fingerprints captured at one of the five Visa Application Centers in India.

Did anyone create an account and schedule an appointment to have your photograph n fingerprints or is that something that is done at time of the interview which is already scheduled for April 14th?

You need to book an appointment for ofc at least one day prior to ur interview.. My interview is on 1st April and ofc on 29th March.. Mumbai Embassy..

1- It depends on the country, I saw some people did their medical exam before. But in France, you needed to have your interview date before you could schedule your medical examination. You should check your country requirement and see for the medical examination.

2- They won't assigned you for an interview right away. You may want to confirm with NVC first that you have a case complete. And then check the link of Dweels to see how long it took for people of your country to have an interview Here is the link.https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xbLl_8yDgHLeDaLnTrPdYc44J0sjPSFfYCKxlKx6uTY/edit#gid=0

3- You will receive an interview letter. Interview letter are sent the following day when your interview is assigned.

I would do the medical as late as possible, because its only valid for 6 months so if your consulate has not open spot for interview yet then itcould expire so...

I sure would not stress it. If asked why she filed single just tell them that is what the tax accountant did. The embassies know we are fed wrong info from IRS and tax preparers. It's really to late in the game to be amending taxes.
