More than a third of Americans want to ban Muslims from entering the United States, a new poll has found.

Nearly half of the US nationals surveyed want to keep a database of all Muslims already in the country, according to the poll by television network CBS news published Friday.

The poll follows Republican presidential ticket frontrunner Donald Trump’s suggestion Monday that the US bar Muslims from entry in response to a deadly gun attack in San Bernardino, California that is believed to have been inspired by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) armed group. Mr Trump's comment has prompted outrage from international media and governments but recent polling data shows that more Republicans support the prospective presidential nomineee than ever.

I am not a Trump supporter but find it highly amusing as to how the establishment has been unable to knock him down, the more they try the higher his numbers.

There was a poll a while back where one third of Americans supported a military coup to take out Obama. No doubt this is the same 1/3rd.

I don't think banning all Muslims is the solution, with all due respect. Nor is it constitutional, nor would the supreme court ever allow such thing. So basically all it is, is the supposed "non politician" playing politics and telling (some) people what they want to hear.

Israel itself has many Muslim officers in the IDF the thought that they shouldn't be allowed into the US just because Trump said so is kind of ridiculous.

Well yes it says that in my link too. But it's just an excuse to cancel it due to the backlash.

Those who have recently spoken to the Israeli government tell Right Turn that Netanyahu did not cancel or ask Trump to cancel. An experienced Israel hand tells me, “The Israelis are not going to start picking and choosing among American candidates, in either party, so Bibi would have met with Trump.” He continued: “They would not have let him visit the Temple Mount — not in the midst of this stabbing intifada — and Bibi’s greeting would have been restrained: Photo op, no happy joint press conference. Meanwhile lots of Israeli officials would have refused to meet with Trump at all, and the Israeli press corps would have eaten him alive.” Indeed, the Israeli media, generally left-leaning, are to an even greater extent than the U.S. mainstream media famously aggressive and unabashed in criticism. The foreign policy guru concludes: “So everyone is better off that he is staying home, and Israeli officials are saying ‘whew — close one.’ Trump’s cancellation is their best Hanukkah present.”

First, Trump is entirely in over his head on foreign policy and does not understand the implications of his own rhetoric and appeals to bigotry. Far from acting as a friend of Israel who can repair ties with the Jewish state, he now is effectively a persona non grata there.
