Filed: K-1 Visa Country: Vietnam
Timeline

We will join you this Friday's FedEx mail. Good to see some of the escapees from the Texas Black Hole.

We are having issues with getting vaccination verifications here from Civil Surgeons since there are few vaccines in Vietnam and need them for the application. Many of the CS I talked to want to say they don't recognize the past physical and you have to pay them to do it again. I finally found one to do only a vaccine verification after I got my wife vaccinated by my doctor on my insurance which happens to be free. What a scam from the CS offices I talked to here. All discussions turned from accepting insurance to cash when you mention Green Card services.

K-1 Journey

2/27/2015: Sent I-129F to Black Hole in Texas:
3/13/2015 NOA1 Received by snail mail:
8/18 2015 ; NOA2 APPROVED. Perfect timing since Linh's current B1/B2 visa stay expires in 3 days and heads back to Vietnam
8/24/2015: NOA2 Shipped to Department of State (DOS) - National Visa Center (NVC)
9/1/2015: NVC Received NOA2 Package and have assigned a Case Number!
9/22/2015: Received PKT3... Finally..... Can now make appointment for Medical Examination
9/28/2015: Medical Exam - Took 3 days... Cho Ray is a mess. Vaccinations delayed until passing Interview because of shortage of vaccinations in Vietnam
10/7/2015: Interview at Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City and APPROVED!!!!
10/22/2015 K1 Visa in hand. Son's K2 visa only valid for 6 months (W-T-F-?) Thought good for 1 year. Inquire at consulate and told visa good only as long as the medical which is 6 months K2 VISAS NOT GOOD FOR 1 YEAR AS ADVERTISED ON DOS WEBSITE!
10/29/2015 POE Chicago; Easiest pass through for Linh in her 4 previous entries.
11/2/2015: Not tuned in enough to Social Security not to pick "the first day of the month" to try to get signed up. Read VJ advice, it's spot on, we had a processor who knew K1. We were in the SAVE database in 3 days so it was easy after a 2 hour wait.
11/21/2015: MARRIED IN GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK

5/25/2016 Walk in for a "junior" Biometrics for an 11 year old (supposedly not required). Oops wrote down the wrong day, appointment was for 5/23/2016. USCIS office was nice and accepted us 2 days late.

7/13/2016 Finally the Check Status Website worked. Approved EAD and AP. Website still not working on AOS Green Card Application. No email notification at all....

7/15/2016 Card for EAD mailed. Card is for both EAD and AP. Received 7/19/2016. Waiting now for AOS Interview or Green Card Approval

7/19/2016 The USCIS.GOV is now working for our AOS application. Is there light at the end of the tunnel? Seems others have access to USCIS.GOV Check Case now. Glitch fixed?

8/15/2016 I-485 Approved. Status now Card/Document Production

8/20/2016 GREEN CARD DELIVERED -118 Days K-2 Process complete, see y'all on Lifting Conditions board in a year or so

Yeah, we had the same problem. I shared on the March 2015 K-1 filer thread that the closes CS to us told us they won't accept health insurance to cover the vaccines because they are considered 'personal use'....LOL! Really? You couldn't come up with anything better? I see that my health insurance code just changed today, so we will probably send our petition even if we don't have the vaccines, then get them done if/when we have an RFE. His DS-3025 says "requesting blanket waiver", so I think that's acceptable, but not entirely sure.

I was surprised at how many vaccines can be considered inappropriate due to age according to the Technical Guidance for Civil Surgeons today. (http://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/exams/ti/civil/vaccination-civil-technical-instructions.html#i693) By the time we get any RFE, we will probably have his vaccinations done at a place like Walgreens or something.

Believe me, I was really searching for something in the guidance that said the CS's can't require a whole new medical or how they fill out the I-693 with ONLY vaccinations. Unfortunately, I only found reading between the lines. Oy vey...

did u guys see a surgeon to fill up a form? i didn't ?

Did you have proof of your vaccination record at the panel physician (the clinic in the Philippines)? If you did or if you had gotten your vaccinations at the clinic, then you are good. The USCIS is supposed to have your medical results when you cross the border, so if you have had all your vaccinations, you should be good.

Oh hello, I will join you here too :-)

Havent sent it yet, we are still missing the proof of tax things, but will get it tomorrow and then we are good to go as far as I can tell :-)

Dont the instructions say that if your DS-3025 from your medical is complete you are good? That is how I understood it. anyways.

Already got my updated SSN (new name) too and getting ready for the fun of drivers licence. Supposedly MA is not too bad for K-1, we shall see. The new aupair just failed her driving test because she didnt know the hand signs for broken blinkers, so she called me to teach me real quick (I didnt know them either).

And I arrived not even three weeks ago :-D

If your DS-3025 says that your vaccinations are complete, then yes, you don't need anything else. You can ignore the Form I-693.

I am planning on using non-USC. I don't think the USC spouse needs to include a G-1145, right?

Hello guys,

Arranging our paper works for AOS we'll probably send it this month. Is it necessary to have the vaccines transcribe or something. Mine has a mark complete at the bottom part.
