I need help submitting Additional Evidence to London Embassy

Hello everyone,

I could use a little help.

My fiance had his K1 interview yesterday & was told that we were approved (YAY!) pending the submission of additional evidence (his original birth certificate).

My questions are these:

He is not located near a courier location and wants to send it in via Royal Mail. To what address should he send it?

To complicate matters, we were told that he needed to send a "Courier-In Authorization Certificate" with his birth certificate. We were told to email weeac_contactus+gb+info+en@visaops.net to request one. Does anyone have experience with this?

And finally, does anyone know how long this whole detour may take? I was hoping to fly back to the US with my fiance in mid December.

Thanks for your help. This site has been an amazing resource and comfort in this emotionally-charged process.

Kim

ps I've never posted on this site before, so please forgive if I've managed to post this in the wrong place :)

Did they keep his passport or does he have to send that with the birth certificate?

Hi :)

They did not keep his passport. They just sent him home with a letter saying that Additional Evidence (his original BC) needed to be submitted. No mention of needing to send in passport as well.

They need the passport to glue the visa in, so yes it needs to go back with the birth certificate. That should only go by their courier. I'm not familiar with the email request thing, but sounds like it is their way for you to request a pickup of your documents to go to the embassy. A driver will come collect at your home (or work or grandma's house) so no need to go to a depot. They take the delivery to the visa unit, somebody gets around to going back to his case, approves, prints/issues the visa, and hands it back off to the courier to home deliver.

They won't work on it the day his documents arrive, so plan on a week or more to look at the case again, then maybe another 10 days before it gets back to him. It is so variable...just want you to know he won't likely have his visa a few days after he sends things in.

Before a courier contract change up, people who had to send in additional documentation rang up the courier to do a pick up. I am guessing that email address is the efficient way to do it now. Not sure but a reasonable guess. Do not send Royal Mail.

Thank you Nich-Nick your help. I think I have a better handle on the situation now.

He DID leave his passport at the embassy (a detail he forgot to tell me when describing the interview day), so now we're just waiting on our Courier-In Certificate to be generated on the ais.usavisa-info.com site (they said this usually takes about 2 working days after the interview) so he can submit the original BC by courier. We will take your advise and not send via Royal Mail.

Fingers crossed that everything goes quickly!

Need to say again how much I appreciate this site...

Any update on when/if you've received your visa yet?

I'm in exactly the same boat as you, only took a photocopy of my birth certificate so sent off the original by courier on Saturday. Since then my ceac has been updated twice, once on the 24th and once on the 25th but is still in AP. Flight's booked now so hoping that it will hopefully be here next week.

Hi flaps,

Everything seems to have worked out. We just this morning received the tracking email from the courier, so the visa should be in-hand soon.

Don't panic. Our ceac status changed back and forth a few times too before it finally showed "Issued". Things may have gotten slowed down for you a bit because of the Thanksgiving holiday - and now the upcoming weekend. Take a deep breath and hang tight, most likely it will all resolve next week.

Good luck & let me know how it goes.

Thanks

So how many days was that between you sending off the birth certificate and getting the tracking? I'm not worried as my flight is fully flexible but definitely want to be there for Christmas

Another update on ceac yesterday but still saying in AP. Anyone got any idea on any way to ask what's going on? I think that's 4 updates it's had since I sent it off last Monday. I know they were closed for Thanksgiving last Thursday but would they have taken the Friday off too? Starting to get frustrated now at the length of time it's taking.

At the interview she was very positive that all she needed was my birth certificate and she'd be happy to issue my visa. Even told me to send it back ASAP in order for her to process it quicker... HURRY UP PLEASE

It takes as long as it takes, and they won't tell you what exactly is going on.

Just got off the phone with DX. The embassy has had my birth certificate since the 25th, 2 weeks now and nothing has been updated. Phone the DOS earlier and the gentleman on the phone said that the last update was my interview. I figured that leaving nearly four weeks between sending my birth certificate which by the way, they never mentioned I would need as my appointment was due to needing a waiver for the visa in the first place, would be plenty but that's starting to look ambitious now. Anyone any experience of getting to the front of the queue due to them having had my documents for 2 weeks now?

Any help would be appreciated.
