Can an applicant have their medical examination done before their interview is scheduled? Apparently there are people who can't get a medical appointment in time for their interviews.

I know the results of the medical exam are good for one year, but I read that a person is required to bring their appointment letter with them to the medical appointment? If that's the case. I assume a medical appointment can't be made until after a person is granted an interview appointment, but the websites I'm reading aren't clear on that.

Most medical doctors require the interview letter. Although the results are good for 1 year (mainly a AP, K1 thing). You only have 6 months from medical to enter the US. So risky very risky to have done with no interview in site.

Hi :

Since my case status is 'case completed', and now I'm just waiting for the interview date, I have a question.

Is it true : that I as an applicant, will require my wife(sponsor), to fill out the 'new and updated version' of I-864, and have it with me to take it to the interview?

I appreciate advise. We'll hold off until the interview, and hope for the best.

Yes, she needs to fill out the new I-864. I just finished up ours. My husband will take it with him to the interview.

Thanks Lowlie for such a quick reply :

And in that regards, my wife wanted to ask you about re-filling the updated I-864.

While doing so, does it means that all supporting documents for it, namely paystubs etc. have to be provided again? (Since paystubs are required to be most current) ?

She needs to know, as gathering the documents again may take some time ?

Income documents such as 2014 W2s and 1099s won't need to be, but if she's submitting pay stubs, she could submit the latest stubs at the interview. I decided to include the latest child support payment receipts. I figure better safe than sorry

What is this about a new I-864? My case was closed 8/17/15 and we are waiting on an interview date as well.... Is this something everyone will need to do?

On mine, I just put my husband's name, since any mail sent to that address would need to be opened by him. For the dollar amounts, I would round to the closest whole number, although you can always write the cents in with a pen after you print it out. I don't think it would really matter that much, but I think you will be fine either way.

My case was closed on 8/25/15, and I had the same question. VisaJourney people told me that I should fill out a new I-864, and I also called the NVC to see what they wanted me to do. The rep I spoke to said that it would depend on the Consulate, but she said that filling out a new I-864 would be the best thing to do.

When my husband goes for his interview, he will have an original and copy of the I-864 that was initially sent to the NVC, as well as an original and copy of the new I-864.

There could be a chance that they don't need the newest I-864, but to be honest, I'd rather bring it than risk going through Administrative Processing because they need it.

For all your questions about the new I-864 and issues not really sure whats up but I would advise you to go over to NVC filers thread. They always have the up to date info on whats up.

Every who does not have an interview or preparing for October and beyond. Yes get the new and improve I-864 its updated and NVC website even advises you need to bring new ones. If you use Pay stubs bring most current.

I do know in care of unless its an address that's someone else s just Put their name. This is used for when people use an alternate address. I guess there was so much complaints they made this feature. Also I played around with this on my computer and the boxes once filled will retype address names and even counts household #'s (no more people counting twice). It's pretty cool.

In the "in care of" spaces, I just added our name again.

When I printed out the completed form, I used a black ink pen to fill in all the spaces that wouldn't allow me to type when I filled the form out on line. It wouldn't allow me to add my husbands last 2 digits of his phone number, or add a number to part 5, line 1, 2, 6 or 8.

I didn't worry about commas. For example numbers, it's not necessary to type $45,670.00. It can be left as $45670.00

For cents, I filled that in with the ink pen.

Oh, ok.... but how do you have your oringina I-864? Mine was sent to NVC, I only have a copy. Also, do we just go to the USCIS website and download a new form to fill out? Thanks

I have the original because I opted for Electronic Processing. The NVC technically only has copies of all of my documents, so I have to bring the originals of most of my documents as well as a copy. If you sent the original by mail, then definitely bring the copy to the interview. I'm not quite sure if it's a problem that you sent your original I-864 to the NVC, but I'm sure that someone that also did mail processing can answer this for you.

Yes, the new I-864 is on the USCIS website. The edition is 7/02/15.

*Edit*

Also be sure to check the application after you fill it out and print it. I noticed that certain boxes weren't checked and certain spaces didn't have what I typed in them. It's no problem to write in what you need even if you typed in everything else, but definitely check over the form!

Fill out the new form, which is 12 pages (the former I-864 was 9 pages) and take it to the interview.
