I hate knowing this. I need to renew my passport after my US trip in Sept. Hoping this will be resolved by then.

DFA's problem: 42,230 delayed passports.

MANILA - The Department of Foreign Affairs Office of Consular Affairs aims to clear passport release backlogs in 15 to 20 days.

The release of more than a hundred thousand passports have been delayed due to technical problems during the printing process in February.

Oh, that's why everyone has been coming on here lately saying their getting notices that their passport appts are delayed.....

Yeah. This sucks! There are so many angry travellers I can imagine. I am not in a hurry after my US trip but i sure want my passport by Dec for my K1 processing.

this is sad though, people pay exact amount for the service, and they can't give you exactly what you need n timely manner. money can have their machine fixed and or build new facility, hire new people etc. everything is delayed in the Philippines, i was hoping DFA will be an exemption. Driver's license card is delayed for up to a year and others are years, sss card can be obtain after 3 months same as new philpost id and the list goes on...

I agree on all of the above.. The sad truth! What can we do? Nothing! That's why I am not looking at my tax deductions, it makes me upset. Government services are soooo unreliable.

The passport issue in Phil is just ridiculous... It took my fiancée about 5 months to get her passport from early Dec till mid May and it was a charade of trips from Bulacan to Manila biweekly but luckily she never gave up and now she has it

You have to be persistent like my fiancée was to get that passport done

im really freaking out now!! im not even sure if my fiance can have his passport by the of the month!!we have the our case number but we cnt do anything yet bcus of the delayed!! they said 10 working days !doubt it!! what else can i do??can he apply to another location?or can he go to manila and process a new passport?

Let your fiance call the dfa branch where he applied for passport,call them constantly to follow up.

Hi Duniqman,

Yeah it will be a huge inconvenience to process these days. Really? It took her 5 months? I renewed my kids passport last March this year in DFA Aseana and it only took 21 days, the normal processing. This problem started in February but only got worst.

Hi Shai and Caz, there is nothing else you can do if you are applying for a new passport but wait. Did he requeated expidite processing? He can call DFA if he can get thru to follow up citing that he needs it for visa proceasing. If he already applied one, he cannot apply again on another branch.
