Yes they do take the Green Card if they issue the stamp. My wife set up an Infopass appoint to get the stamp, she changed her mind when she realized they would take the Green Card. Felt that the letter and the Expired Green card would be fine. She works as a flight attendant and leaves the country frequently.

Do they take your expired green card if you go to get a stamp in your passport? I think I read that somewhere. If so, does it cause any problems if you file for naturalization before the ROC is approved? You have to turn in your green card at naturalization correct?

I just tried to check my status by entering the receipt number (WAC number) on www.uscis.gov. I get this error:

  • My Case Status does not recognize the receipt number entered. Please check your receipt number and try again. If you need further assistance, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283.

Should I be worried?

Not if this is the receipt number from your Notice of Action (aka, the first letter you received extending your status). The receipt number you need is listed on the Biometrics Appointment Notice, scheduling your Biometrics appointment.

If this is the receipt number from the Biometrics appointment, I would give the 1-800 number a call and ask for your call to be escalated to what they call the "second level of customer service". They should be able to help you out.

Be prepared for the eternal waiting game. Be prepared for average news.

I want to take my wife to canada for 2 days for a gateway.

Am i able to go in and out okay with expired green card, letters, and passport?

Yes, you are both safe, 1 year extension extends Green Card for another year, make sure you take passport, greencard and extension letter with you

Date of I-751 = The Date you sent your application.
NOA Date = The Receipt Date on your original NOA letter.
Biometrics = The Date of your biometrics appointment.
Approved = The Date your case was approved.

hey guys,

my application is still pending and I did got the 1 year extension letter.

I want to take my wife to canada for 2 days for a gateway.

Am i able to go in and out okay with expired green card, letters, and passport?

I just got back from a trip to Europe. As soon as I arrived in Switzerland I lost my passport so I had to get an emergency one. I thought it was gonna be a mess having to show an expire green card, an extension letter, and an emergency passport but seemed like nobody cared either there or here. So I would thinking going to Canada would be just fine.
