Should I book my Flight?

Hey guys, I got approved today and my Fiance realllyyy wants to book the flights.

But honestly I am a nervous guy, we want to book the flight for the 6th of August, leaving just under 3 weeks for the passport to come back to me?

Is this risky or should I be safe?

I got approved two days ago and am ITCHING to book my flight cos I wanna leave August 12.

I would say maybe don't until you have your visa. I think lots of people were doing that when the database crash happened, god forbid that happens again right now but its probably safe to wait.

You should have your visa in about a week from approval (so they say).

Wait until you have the visa in hand before booking the flight. This advice comes from the U.S. Embassy.

You never know what snafu may delay your visa.

People tend to book their flight when their CEAC status changes from AP to Issued. From Issued it can take up to 7 business days to receive your passport/visa. I waited until I had my passport in my hand, but I've seen other people book flights a week from when their status changes to Issued and been ok. Even though I wasn't in a rush to get over here, I didn't want to book the flight until it was in my hand. Depends on the person!

What happens if you got the brown envelop where CX have ripped/damaged it? As advice, you should probably wait unless you get a flex ticket and then that is expensive. Or accept a £100 + price uplift in changing your ticket depending on airline.

My interview is this coming Monday (20th), and I've already booked my flight for three weeks later on the 10th August. I figured going by the time from interview to visa in hand thread, that three weeks should more than suffice. I also booked the flight well in advance as I didn't want to wait until the last minute and be left with seat dregs and likely higher prices. I also have a flight that can be changed if need be.

Time will tell if I made the right decision or not...!

We got our visa yesterday but have our flight booked for Sep 2nd. That date was always our plan though...once our petition hit the embassy in April...figured it was far enough out for a cheap ticket but wouldn't be stressed about getting our visa in time either. It's really all about what risk you're willing to take. For us it was just about having a firm date and not having to stress about things that aren't in our control. It was still an exciting wait until the visa was in hand but I think that's natural.

We booked 4 months ahead and found a one way ticket from Cebu to Philly with two quick stops for only 700 bucks.

My interview is August 6th and I've booked my flight for August 21st. It's close but they're currently telling people they'll get it within 2 weeks, and hey you've got to risk it for the biscuit. The change fee is very reasonable with the airline I'm flying with, so it's not problem if I have to. Only you know how desperate you are to get out there and your financial situation.
