Have you checked your case status on the USCIS website?..

Yes, and it just says that my case was received on On May 29, 2015, and that they have mailed out a receipt notice that describes how they will process our case. They said if we have not received our receipt notice by June 28, 2015, to please call Customer Service.

Seeing as you are a US citizen living abroad, you should fall under Direct Consular Filing which means your case should go rather quickly!

Unfortunately, there's no International Office in France, so no DCF! I had to send it to the Chicago Lockbox.

Even though you can't do DCF, you're still living and filing from abroad. Since you're residing in France, you obviously have put your address there as your current and mailing address. This in most cases makes a big difference and will result in a quicker process for your CR1/IR1 Visa (i.e compared to petitioners who live and filed within the US)

Mailed the I-130-spousal petition yesterday (June 7) to the Chicago Lockbox.

I am a US Citizen who married a Canadian and moved to Canada over 16 years ago. We now want to start the process of immigrating my husband to the US.

Wish us luck.

I was reading on these forums that this is often the case, but I've also read stories where it got complicated (establishing domicile/intent to move for example) so while I'm hoping the wait will be shorter, I also know I need to pay extra attention to all the documents, since sending them from abroad just adds extra time to the whole process.

That being said, I got my NOA1 via email late last night, and our case was sent to California, so it's all looking pretty good so far!

Yup

The need to gather the right documents and to review them thoroughly is vital for every petitioner.

Congrats on your NOA1!:D I'm still waiting for my NOA1 hardcopy :)
