interview time?

Hi. This is probably a silly question and I may be over thinking things slightly but... I received my interview letter today and besides that it is further away than I hoped, it is also at 1pm. I have been following the reviews and questions regarding interviews and have never noticed anyone having their interview in the afternoon. I guess what I'm asking is for some reassurance that they don't just schedule afternoon appointments for those they think they might refuse. Hope someone can please put my mind at rest. Thanks

Hi. I have also been scheduled for the afternoon. I have also just received my letter today. In reference to refusals being scheduled on the afternoon, oooh I certainly hope not ... :) Let's just make sure that we've got everything we need :) That way at least we are sure that we are ready, and they would have no reason to refuse us visas :D

I haven't ever heard of a 1pm appointment. Maybe they are trying to get some extra people in, or have a reason the morning of that day is unavailable so they are working some afternoon appointments.

For reassurance, I don't think anybody reviews your information until the few minutes between your number being called and you approach the interviewer's window. If your petition was approved by USCIS then you have equal chance of anybody else going to an interview.

I have my interview this afternoon at 3pm. I was nervous before, but now after reading your post, I'm terrified! Gah. I really hope it's not because they're planning on denying us! I'm fairly confident that we have a really easy case, with no red flags or anything, so I can't imagine what would make them choose to deny us.

The thread is about visa interviews in London, not adjustment of status. Afternoon appointments in London are unusual. Afternoon AOS appointments are not.

Thanks for replying so quick. I do feel a little more calm :D One more quick question.. I think I remember letters of intent to marry are only valid for 4 months? If this is the case I assume I can just take 2 new letters with me to the interview? Thanks again

Your petition approval is valid for four months. It has an expiration on the NOA2. Looking at your timeline, that is around June 23. If you interview before then, you do not need a new letter of intent. if you interview after expiration, London says to bring a new letter of intent from the American fiancé to revalidate the petition. Get out your first letter of instruction from London (packet 3) and see if it doesn't tell you that. It used to but I haven't seen a 2015 version of the letter.

I distinctly recall reading something, somewhere that stated they interview up until 2:00pm or 2:30pm... For the life of me, I can't remember where!

Forgive me, this is what I was thinking of; the website for the embassy states up to 12:30pm for immigrant visas, but allow two hours (which is probably where I got 2:30pm from).

http://london.usembassy.gov/mobile/iv/ivfaqs_interview.html

Regardless, if you've been scheduled that time, then arrive for that time. Like Nich-Nick said, more than likely they might be trying out extended appointment hours or something similar.

Good luck!

Interesting. The London letters used to have four months from the petition approval NOA2 date. Anybody else care to post what date your letter said?

With just a day grace period, I would have the American fiancé send over a new letter of intent. Often they don't even bother to ask despite their letter saying if you go past four months from the date. But since they say that, and you are so close, get a new letter.
