You would thing it would be a good thing, wouldnt ya?? But nay nay, it is a sentence to the pits of purgatory! As we have concluded on this thread here from letters of Congressman, Senators, Ombudsman and USCIS. It can take 9-12+ months.

I thought that too especially long drive from Key West to Kendall not included how rude they were to my husband, I was happy received NPIW and my heart was sunk after knowing it sent me to long dark tunnel like this.

Hello everybody. I'm new on this forum. I filed my papers on 7th July 2014. Then I received NPIW on 15th October. After six month on 15th of April 2015 I called to UCSIC and made a request. On 5th May 2015 it was information that the officer was assigned and that he sent an answer. Today is 30th day since I made a request. So the period for answer ended. I called them again and they didn't say anything about this answer, they just offered to make the same request again on Monday. Of course, I don't see any reason to do it again, because it was useless. Does somebody have a similar experience? Or maybe someone have any advice what could be helpful in my situation. I would grateful for any information.

Welcome. Well Our first SR in December was never answered even though is was assigned to an officer, (it still says assigned to an officer to this day) So I set another in January and that one was answered in 27 days, saying still delayed. Sent another SR at the end of February and it took 31 days for them to respond to that one and it told us to go for an infopass appt. Infopass was worthless. Contacted the Congressman end of April and sent another SR, still has not been answered BUT we did receive an RFE for a new medical because they let ours expire since we originally filed April 1st 2014. I hope that gives you some insight of what to maybe expect.

USCIS just offered to put in another Service Request? They didn't say a thing about the answer?

They just said that sometimes it's possible to receive the answer later than 30 days. But if they mailed on 5th of May, it has to be delivered during 3 day. When I mentioned this., they didn't say anything about it at all. While they saw that I had a request on 15th of April.

So this is real?!?!?!

We're all getting RFEs for new medical and vaccine supplement paperwork, because they let ours expire???? Is a designated civil surgeon any doctor or do you have to go somewhere specific??

It's been over a year since they got our I-485. My husband's EAD/AP expires in July. His work mentioned that he needs to get it renewed ASAP. We didn't even think about it before. USCIS says we have to pay the fee again. Is that right?

This seems crazy! Plus it REALLY makes me mad that they refuse to talk to me without my husband saying it's ok.

Calling the USCIS is like getting the run around in the very worst way.

Thank you very much for information. Because I really started to think that they lost my documents or something like this. Because it was assigned to officer, he responded and sent on 5 th May, but I have never received. I think I would receive an RFE for a new medical, too. But it is not logical, it expired, because they didn't work on the case. So it's really disappointing.

No, not necessarily a new medical. Someone just got approval this week and their medical was from Sep 2014 and they did not have to redo it. We dont know the reasoning is for how they decide who gets the new medical or not, some of us are just lucky I guess. You can not go to just any doctor it has to be a civil surgeon that is approved by uscis.

You should go ahead and apply for the renewal just in case but while that is in process you may receive the GC before. No, no fees for the EAD/AP renewals.

Yes, 2nd anniversary. We were late filing the AOS due to a delay getting the marriage license. We had to mail our packet twice. The first time it was returned to us, because they couldn't find the check.....that was in the envelope clipped to our cover page. Yeah!

Anyway...they officially got the packet 4/30/14. It took over 11 months to send the RFE, which we didn't get for 2 weeks. It's enough to make me scream.

My husband called USCIS twice today and was told both times that he does have to pay a fee to renew the EAD/AP. I am just frustrated.

Anybody have any idea of the cost for the civil surgeon? I saw some comments about getting ripped off.

Then you should be getting a 10year GC. Wow sounds like you have had a rough go of it!

Well, I can tell you that all of us here, including myself have sent in renewals without a fee and received our renewal card. I did have a Tier 2 tell me that yes there is a renewal fee and I told her straight out she was wrong. I paid the original fee when we filed therefore no fees to renew.

I have heard of fees from 135.00 to 500.00, I guess it depends on where you live. If you have to redo the medical just make sure you call around and get prices. Use this link:

https://my.uscis.gov/findadoctor

Also, ask what it includes, lab test, xray, tb test, vaccines. I know some charge extra for some of those things.

Thanks!!!! I lived on visajourney in 2013. I think I got complacent. This is partially my fault for not following up with the AOS like I did with the K1. I just got the impression that following up does nothing, but make me more frustrated!
