We were approved Feb 25 and our file wasn't sent to NVC until March 09. I have checked a few times since with NVC but in each case have been told to wait 10 working days from that date, so 2 full weeks because they say they haven't received our case yet and on other threads I see that looks to be the general rule though some are quicker.

Hopefully not too much longer. (For some reason this part seems to be taking forever.)

Mar 2011 - After 5mths denied for lost docs - Attempts to follow up failed. Mar 18 2012 - I-129F sent - No sign of NOA1 but they have banked the check...Jul 24 - Update - USCIS has located our file
Infopass Apt - they sorted through everything - our 2011 and 2012 file keep getting mixed up - getting us a Case# (still waiting) Dec- Infopass Appt- expecting to get a case # in about a week ..Still no Case number

Mar 2013 Infopass - advised file was in a box somewhere, and it would be quicker for us to refile. Life gets in the way... New petition submitted July 2014 .

I am not expert on this, the only knowledge I have is from what I have read in other posts on the site, which is that you should wait 10 days before calling NVC to get your case number, you need the case number to access and complete the DS160...you also need it to track the status of your case.

I am thinking that the 10 days is needed for the time for the application file to travel from USCIS to the NVC then have someone enter it into the NVC system.

You said you got approved last friday, I got approved on February 20th and then, on March 3rd, I got another status update alert from USCIS stating the case was sent to the NVC, I got the alert the same day that it was sent. Logically I guess you would wait 10 days after you get the status update from USCIS telling you that your case was sent to the NVC.

I know that we have to bring to the interview

  • The DS160 confirmation page
  • A valid passeport
  • A Police certificate
  • Medical examination papers
  • Evidence of finantial support (form I-134, affidait of suport)
  • Two photos
  • Evidence of ongoing relationship
  • Payment of fees

But what about the letter of intent to marry and the letter the employer of the US petitioner have to write ? When do we send or give that ?

Any August filers got their case # from NVC yet? Today is 2weeks since i got my NOA2, but i got a notification on March 9th that my case is sent to NVC. I'll probably call them Wednesday to check.

It's so nice to see so many familiar "faces" (aka profile pictures)! Glad we're all in this together, with each other's support and help. I finally got my case #. Here's my timeline:

February 20: Received NOA2.

March 6: Received email from USCIS saying my petition was sent to NVC for processing.

March 16: NVC had JUST assigned a case # as of this morning, and said they would be finishing it off tonight. They said it would take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to have it sent to the consulate for processing.

I had called numerous times between March 1 to March 13 and was told they didn't have my petition. Based on my timeline, it looks like it's about 16 business days from NOA2 --> Case #. I hope this is helpful for you guys. I hope everything else is faster :(

Hey all. My fiancé is confused about his police cert form. It asks for immigration officer ref #/email, endorser info, etc. States it requires this info. Any clues? I think the endorser is the person who verifies your photo ID

Our case was sent to NVC on March 9 also and I notice there are a few others have the same date so it looks like they batch them to NVC since our NOA2 was Feb 25. I have seen a few quick responses from NVC but in general the wait is around two weeks, so it could be in another couple of days.

I've look at past timelines for people that had the same country/embassy as my fiance, its appears that the whole process from NVC to interview takes about 1 month - 1.5 months for Bolivia.

It took 12 days for TSC to send ours after NOA2 and finally went on Mar 09, I called every day for the first week and was told they hadnt received it, just tried again now and was told they have received it (I was worried it was lost - we have had a saga of lost docs in our previous efforts); but she said she couldn't give me a case number because they had so many and it would take six weeks !! I just nodded, said thank you and hung up.

So at least it is there... any ideas as to how long it will be.. ?? I thought if their system shows they'd received it, they would be able to give me a case number.
