That looks mostly right, the only problem is the process is forever changing. So while it's probably a good idea to collect the main stuff. I would recommend waiting to see what you need for each step as you go and collecting it that way.

My Fiancee and I tried gathering everything at once and it just became an insurmountable task for what ended up being a lot of unneeded paperwork. Once we started utilising this forum (thanks by the way guys! :) ) in conjunction with the embassy to find out what we needed at each step, it became a lot easier.

The Embassy and Immigration offices aren't going to try and trick you, as long as you play ball with what they're asking.

A few points:

  • The letter's of intent are required not recommended, if they weren't sent you'd receive an RFE for them. So those should technically be on the first list.
  • You also need one passport style photo of the petitioner and one of the beneficiary, again this is required.
  • Including G-1145 form so you can get electronic notifications is also a good idea.
  • Only the beneficiary fills out the DS-160 and this comes later in the process.
  • Again the I-134 comes later, after NOA2, the beneficiary takes it to the interview, you do not submit that now.

That's the main things that stand out to me at the moment.

ok - you've listed everything, from soup to nuts, for the 3 phases of 'chasing a visa'.

first, there's the I-129F petition lobbed into USCIS.

then there's the visa application process lobbed into Guangzhou electronically via ustraveldocs.com/cn after Guangzhou IV is ready to start it.

then there's interview day itself .

I'm gonna label yer bits here,

A. I-129F petition submittal

B. Visa Application , DS-160

C. Interview Day doc requirements

why is additional evidence listed with A? Guangzhou IV is HARD, one of the top 2 fraud consulates, so if you have amassed relationship evidence, send it in with the I-129F. USCIS sees it, approves the petition, sends the entire casefile including the evidence on to NVC, NVC rebundles it, sends it to Guangzhou IV, and then for about 25 days prior to the interview day, the casefile is in Guangzhou IV, Vice-Consuls review it all. This process is called 'front-loading' and is suggested, strongly, for I-129F petitions ultimately headed to Guangzhou IV. You've listed 'all passport pages' - this would be an example of you two meeting, but you've other stuff, photos, emails, air ticket receipts, hotel receipts in China, etc etc. Usually this is best done , presented, with an 'Evolution of Relationship' Letter, less than 2 pages, that lists and references the evidence and this letter flows in a logical timeline of events .

If some time has passed, say a year from I-129F submittal date to interview date, new letters of intent to marry are suggested to be handed over on interview day.

I-134 errata - 1] handed in on interview day and 2] uses rules listed in the I-864, so study the I-864 instructions 3] prior year (s ) tax data plus current annual income proof.

That's it, for now. Have more questions? try the advanced search tool, when logged in from a pc, and vary the date ranges, as the site owner locked 'full from day 0' and it's not do-able anymore.

Go Get Em, and Good Luck !

Welcome to the forum.

Agree with Darnell. Things dance to the beat of a different drum when it comes to the visa process in the People's Republic of China.

Phase 1: Petitioner initial submission: :guides: As others have mentioned. "Front-load" your I-129F petition with as much evidence as you can. (Use the site's Google search function for more information.) The Guangzhou consulate (GUZ) can be tough, they take fraud detection very seriously.

Phase 2: Beneficiary document submission/interview: Take a look at Packet 3 instructions from the consulate: http://ustraveldocs.com/cn/K1%20Instruction%20DS160%2020140711%28CN%29.pdf (in English and Mandarin). Become acquainted, check in at the China Regional Forum for recent visa experiences, and in particular, the pinned thread about Chinese Marriage Visa Terms & Definitions: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/393969-chinese-marriage-visa-terms-and-definitions/ Make sure that your beneficiary understands and has the correct documents in GUZ-acceptable formats.

This is a bit of a glossing over of the details, the details can be daunting, but certainly not impossible. Take your time, proceed in an orderly manner, don't try to rush it. There are plenty of minefields and sand traps along the way. Brother Darnell helped me immensely when we were winding our way through the GUZ consulate process, in search of our K1 and K2 Visas. He knows the GUZ drill very well. Many Chinese visa beneficiaries get involved in mutual self-help groups in QQ. Have your fiancee check into that. I know that my wife found them very helpful and supportive. ;)

Last, but not least, the GUZ consulate does not allow the USC to attend the visa interview. I made a point of going to Guangzhou, to support my future partner in a very important step in our visa journey. I also brought along the I-134 document/information and a previously prepared Evolution of Relationship (EOR) letter. On the day of the interview, I folded the EOR letter lengthwise, placed it in my US passport, and asked my then-fiancee to place it on top of the pile o' documents that she passed over to the consulate officer (CO) at her interview. As was later told to me, the CO promptly took my passport, glanced over the Chinese transit stamps in my passport and my EOR, and then noted that I was in the area. I am not sure if it made any difference, but it sure didn't hurt, and I have to think it was further evidence of our commitment to each other and to the successful issuance of a visa for my future family. It was merely a continuation of the feeding of evidence of our on-going relationship that had started with the initial evidence front-loading of the I-129F petition.

It certainly isn't one-size-fits-all, each person's visa journey is a little different. It requires you and your fiancée to do a lot of research and reading. There are many of us that have followed a similar path, and we will help when we can, but it is ultimately up to the both of you to get this done.

祝你签证的旅程。

(Good luck on your visa journey.)

Hello everyone!

Thank you very much for the very detailed replied, you all managed to clear my mind and to be able to assemble a nice packet. I have included about 60 pages of internet correspondences (Skype, G-mail, Wechat, Phone Calls), and it is the condensed version. Otherwise it would have exceed a 1,000 pages (literally).

Perhaps I should have stated this earlier, we have been in a relationship for the past 3 and a half years. I have visited her 7 times in that duration so I am fairly confident in that. I included signed letters of intent, 1 passport picture of each. 2 photos of each of the 7 visits (of us together). Engagement ring receipt. ROE thingy (named it differently). Cover letter, paycheck and copies of letters.

The only thing that I really do wonder about, I do not have all the copies of my e-tickets, physical tickets and hotel bookings. Some of them no longer exist on the airline and hotel database so it cannot be retrieved. Would it be enough to simply include the photographs and passport (I have 5 Chinese visa stamps).

Is this enough evidence?

When I got an RFE for proof of meeting, they said that visa stamps were good.

Also, you're not too far from where my fiance and I will be living in Elk River. :)

Should be but only focus on 1 of the meetings in person. You do not get extra credit, at this stage, for additional meetings.

Alright, my package is prepared. Following is what I got:

1. Signed check

2. Cover letter

3. Form I-129F

4. Question 34.a explanation (two pages)

5. Naturalization certificate.

6. Intent to merry, signed by fiance

7. Intent to merry, signed by myself

8. Proof of meeting in person, including airline ticket for our first meeting, four airline tickets for the past 2 years, all pages of my passport and 14 pictures of us together (2 for each trip)

9. G-325a for fiance, signed with her recent passport picture.

10. G-325a for myself, signed with my recent passport picture

11. Proof of serious relationship. Engagement ring receipt, online correspondence, e-mail correspondence, phone calls, instant messaging correspondence, personal letters and skype video call logs.

Overall, over 100 pages in total. I will make two copies of everything for my fiance and myself, additionally my fiance has different evidence to support our case. Different evidence such as different pictures, original tickets and more.

Is that sufficient?
