Confusing Letter Received from USCIS Today

My husband and I filed for his adjustment of status in February 2014. We received our notice of action 3/4/14.

He had his biometrics appt in March and got his work authorization card sometime in June 2014.

We received a letter of Potential Interview Waiver date 6/5/14.

We filed a service request on 12/12/14 for processing period outside of normal time.

Today a letter arrived that says:

Thank you for contacting the Mount Laurel, New Jersey Field Office of USCIS regarding your I-485. Your file just arrived here on December 8, 2014 because the Service Center did not receive sufficient evidence to approve your case.

Your I-485 is still pending consideration. We regreat that we are not able to give you a time frame for when we will complete the review. Thank you for your patience.

I am very confused as we sent our packet back in February, we didn't receive an RFE at any point. As far as I know we supplied everything required to process his application. We used this site and went over and over each step to ensure our packet contained everything needed to process the adjustment of status.

I can't find where others have received such a letter and now I am nervous that something is wrong but I can't begin to guess what it could be with such a vague letter.

Does anyone know anybody who recived a letter like this? Can anyone share some ideas of what this might mean?

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I think it's better make a call and trying to speak to Tier 2 and let them clarify your case or make infopass schedule to ask them for more info. On the other hand, you might get interview schedule soon as your case is coming to USCIS office.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the reply Pat80.

I think I will call them. It seems strange that they state that the Service Center did not receive sufficient evidence to approve our case and yet at the same time we didn't get an RFE!

I am thinking the reason we got this letter is that they are not going to waive our interview after all, which is fine by me, bring it on we have nothing to hide, they could have worded this letter better in my opinion.

I will update this page with what is going on in the event others start getting these letters after a service request.

Thanks for your good wishes, best of luck to you as well.

Well I called the customer service number 800-375-5283 and went through their voice mail jail, the recording stated the current status of our file was it was in Lee Summit, MO....not true since the letter we received yesterday says it's in Mount Laurel, NJ.

I got to a customer service rep and she said she couldn't help me since I am not the applicant, she told me to have the applicant call.

I called my husband at work and gave him the information and he called and was told that our file was at the National Benfits Center, he told her we just received a letter that it was sent to New Jersey. She then told him that we just need to wait to hear from them on what information they need to approve the case.

How's that for informative and great service? They don't even know where our file is. I am very frustrated. My husband's work authorization card will probably need to be renewed before he gets his permanent resident card.

:cry::clock:

I thought I would bump this up with the update that on the USCIS website for updates our case file now says:

The Card Was Ordered To Be Produced on January 12th!!!

I guess the letter was standard in regards to the file being moved from Lee Summit, Mo to Mount Laurel NJ, in our case our long wait is finally almost over.

Now to put the huge sign on the refrigerator so we don't forget to file for the removal of conditions at the exact right time.

Good luck to everyone who has been waiting so long, I do hope you'll be hearing the same good news soon.

:goofy:

Congratulations! I've taken the liberty of linking this thread to the main Notice of Potential Interview Waiver thread, just in case others get the same misleading information in a letter or during a phone call to the USCIS mis-information line.

You may now take a well deserved break from USCIS! YAY!
